Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.
Scope of the role:
Responsible for the Plant Quality Management System (QMS), including IATF 16949 registration and VDA compliance. Ensures customer and industry requirements are understood and met. Strengthens product quality systems and architecture within the organization by driving fundamental understanding and continual improvement that positively influences the Quality Management System. Applies engineering principles and practices to accomplish technical assignments and mitigate risks associated with process, product, and equipment changes. Makes decisions independently using sound engineering and scientific methods.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the plant Quality Management System and quality architecture in the day-to-day manufacturing environment.
- Ensure quality systems are effectively executed and continuously improved.
- Lead internal, external, and customer audit activities, including IATF 16949, VDA, and other applicable standards, to maintain required registrations.
- Lead corrective action teams to resolve audit findings and deficiencies.
- Manage the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) system.
- Lead plant Quality Steering Team meetings.
- Support performance excellence activities within the facility.
- Work with manufacturing and engineering teams to implement sustainable solutions that comply with quality systems and customer requirements.
- Participate as the Quality representative on new process and new equipment teams to ensure products and processes meet quality requirements.
- Update and maintain plant quality systems as needed.
- Monitor, maintain, support, and continuously improve plant quality systems to meet internal and external customer needs, including customer-specific requirements.
- Coach shift quality representatives.
- Lead and support special projects as required.
- Act as Quality receiver for new processes and expansions.
- Supervise quality team members, which may include technicians, quality engineers, and hourly support roles.
- Provide statistical design and analysis support to internal plant departments.
- Facilitate understanding of process capability and product quality architecture.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 5 years of Quality experience, and 3 – 5 years in automotive industry as quality professional
- IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3 knowledge
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of statistical methodology, including the ability to design, execute, and analyze experiments using statistical tools.
- Ability to learn, develop, and improve quality systems.
- Knowledge of Measurement system analysis
- Ability to identify and articulate risks and influence decisions related to product quality.
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 and/or ISO 9001 standards.
- Demonstrated leadership and people supervision capability.
- DMAIC Green Belt training or certification.
- Product Quality Architecture training.
- Familiarity with product specifications and measurement methods.
- Knowledge of material specifications and testing procedures.
- Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Certified Auditor for IATF 16949.

The range for this position is $112,328.00 - $154,451.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
