Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain Pollution Abatement processes and equipment which include critical systems responsible for life safety and compliance with environmental permits.
  • Utilize active trend analysis to aid with quick problem identification and drive to solutions. 
  • Flawlessly execute on equipment switchovers through thorough equipment monitoring and excellent communication with personnel in the field. 
  • Drive activities such as routine and preventive maintenance. 
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, inspection, repair, and testing of heating and mechanical systems, to include pumps, fans, make-up air heaters, scrubbers, and bag house. 
  • Assist with critical preventative and repair maintenance, lubrication, and inspections. 
  • As required by job tasks, wear proper PPE including fall protection harness, respirator (full or half face), or chemical resistant suit.
  • Work hands on with Mechanics and Electricians to resolve issues impacting equipment performance and functionality. 
  • Perform work in accordance with established plant safety & environmental procedures. 
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

 

Required Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • A two-year related technical degree or a minimum of 2 years of relevant technical experience. 
  • Sound understanding of using common repair tools and mechanical equipment.
  • Candidate must possess knowledge of mechanical equipment including, direct drive and belt-driven fans, pumps, motors, bearings, gears, and various types of valves. 
  • Good communication and analytical skills 
  • Candidate will be required to work a rotating 12-hr shift.  
  • Candidate will be required to work during inclement weather lock-ins and scheduled shutdown periods.
  • Candidate will be required to work in extreme temperatures.
  • Candidate must complete all safety training requirements including the respirator physical and fit test.
  • Computer skills such as proficiency with Microsoft Office software. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with others and participate in teams. 

 

Desired Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • A two-year related technical degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant electrical experience. 
  • Experience with industrial systems such as fans, blowers, scrubbers, baghouses, chillers, vacuum systems (operation, troubleshooting, and repair) 
  • Root cause analysis techniques. 
  • Read PFD and P&ID, work from specifications, and follow instructions both written and oral.
  • Electronic instrumentation/Controls or electrical experience.

 

Education

  • High school diploma or GED

The range for this position is ​$31.50 hourly rate - $35.00 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
