Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Description:
- Position available for progression of Level 1 Troubleshooter in Draw department.
- The position allows for the advancement of technical skills in the Draw.
- Upon completion of training candidate will become an EMM.
- Must complete all training for EMM in timely manner to maintain position.
Role Purpose:
- Provides technical support and troubleshooting to front-line workforce.
- Supports Operations DMET and Engineering with work relating to equipment and process performance.
- Works hands-on with manufacturing equipment and activities. Identifies and supports process improvements.
- Uses judgment, experience and initiative to resolve problems and make recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports production line on a daily basis to help deliver yields, throughput and product quality.
- Trains and coaches other EMMT and Level 1 PAs on proper processes and procedures learned/identified from Eng or DMET.
- Utilizes Lean tools to reduce downtime, increase yields, and improve costs and product quality.
- Facilitates the sharing of learning’s across shifts and across product lines.
- Works on equipment projects to reduce costs, downtime and/or defects and increase yields.
- Gives input into development and implements new equipment on the production line.
- Documents all work in Maximo. Listening/ Interpersonal Savvy
- Actively listens to all input.

- Assures and helps enforce that all safety procedures (i.e., Lock out/Tag out, PPE, etc.) are followed at all times.
- Ability to follow troubleshooting checklist and document work.
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Mechanically inclined, ability to use hand tools.
- Ability to handle/prioritize multiple tasks as necessary.
- Good written and verbal communication skills (detailed oriented)
- Electrical background is a plus

The range for this position is $31.50 hourly rate - $35.00 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
