Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

🛠️ Job Opening: Manufacturing Equipment Support Technician

 

Location: Concord, NC Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift (8 hours) + Rotating Off-Hours Support Employment Type: Full-Time

 

🔍 Scope of Position

 

Are you a hands-on problem solver with a passion for manufacturing systems? We’re seeking a highly skilled Draw Manufacturing Technician to provide expert-level troubleshooting and support across electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability, process robustness, and seamless production performance. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues, support new product integration, and lead training initiatives across the organization.

 

🧩 Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide real-time production support for throughput, safety, and quality issues

  • Resolve chronic equipment/process issues using data analysis and monitoring

  • Collaborate with development teams to transfer new products into manufacturing

  • Proactively monitor performance and identify potential equipment/process concerns

  • Manage multiple troubleshooting priorities across various systems and teams

  • Coordinate equipment startup, repair, and process changes with operators, engineers, and trades

  • Receive and disseminate technical training from engineering and development teams

  • Develop and deliver training packages for new or modified equipment

  • Assist engineering in design, documentation, and implementation of production equipment

 

⏰ Work Schedule

  • Standard 8-hour day shift (Monday–Friday)

  • Flexibility required for off-hours support on a rotating basis

 

🎓 Required Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field + 6+ years of manufacturing experience OR Associate degree in a technical field + 8+ years of manufacturing experience OR 10+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience

 

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems

 

⚙️ Required Skills

 

  • Hands-on experience with process equipment troubleshooting

  • Electrical expertise in low/medium voltage systems, PLCs, temperature controls, and safety systems

  • Mechanical troubleshooting experience including pneumatic controls, flow systems, and material handling

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical/mechanical schematics and machine specifications

 

⭐ Preferred Skills

 

  • Certified in technical drawing interpretation

The range for this position is $57,899.00 - $79,612.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
