Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Lead team of Production Supervisors and Associates to manufacture Single Mode Optical Fiber and other waveguide products. Establish organizational design and staffing consisting of high performing work teams. Responsible for developing processes and personnel to meet and exceed production output objectives. Ensure new processes and equipment meet customer standards for safety, quality, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a safety culture that seeks injury elimination.
- Ensure safe working environment for personnel by complying with industry and plant standards.
- Manage team of Shift Supervisors and Production Associates in 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Determine optimal staffing structure to meet utilization, yield, and cost goals.
- Coordinates scheduling of experimentation, preventive maintenance, and planned downtime.
- Support quality objectives ensuring KPIV/KPOV meet customer requirements.
- Responsible for S.O.P., S.O.S, and maintenance protocols are adhered to.
- Assist in preparing Operation’s budget and forecasts for 1- and 5-year cycles.
- Drive employee engagement related to training, documentation, safety, and morale.
- Provide operational inputs and support innovative technology programs.
- Ensure new processes and equipment meet all production requirements.
- Identify and implement programs to improve area performance and reduce operating costs.

Required Qualifications
- BS in an Engineering Discipline (Ex. Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) and 2 years of leadership experience or >4 years of applicable Manufacturing leadership experience.
- Works well in a team environment.
- Maintains positive attitude in the face of adversity.
- The ability to identify, initiate, and implement improvements for key performance metrics.
- Adaptable to priority changes and real-time decision-making skills.
- Ability to solve complex problems in high paced, manufacturing environment.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
Desired Qualifications
- MS in Engineering/MBA
- Engineering project management experience.
- Experience leading large organizations (> 50 employees)
- Record of developing high performing teams

The range for this position is $96,727.00 - $133,000.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
