Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

The Glass making Day Shift Supervisor responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • A champion for safety and quality - walks the talk - leads and facilitates the team to world class, day-to-day, safety and quality performance
  • Provides supervision and facilitation to a team of day staff members.
  • Provides immediate supervision to subordinates to execute operations
  • Provides daily feedback on individual and team performance
  • Prepares and provides reports to supervisory chain
  • Coordinates daily activities of team and support organizations
  • Conduct hourly/direct labor employee performance reviews and provide coaching as needed.
  • Implement and monitor training and certification plans.
  • Hold reports accountable for adherence to established procedures and set points for process control; ensures awareness and compliance to changes.
  • Removes roadblocks for the team and communicates additional support needed to leadership
  • Hold reports accountable for adherence to established procedures and set points for process Delivers any necessary accountability/performance improvement discussions.
  • Coaches and develops team leadership
  • Serves as an operations representative for ongoing projects/activities as needed by Section Supervisors.
  • Ensure the protection of Corning's Intellectual Property (IP)

 

Applicant Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience
  • 4+ years leadership within a team
  • Degree in a technical field OR relevant years of experience in manufacturing supervisory role
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and PI Vision/Process Book
  • Demonstrates the following:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
    • Positive attitude and engage in positive employee relations
  • Strong communication skills
    • Strong decision making and prioritization. Ability to prioritize responsibilities while working in an irregular work environment with changing priorities and multiple tasks.
    • Strong peer-to-peer accountability with fair and consistent application of policies and procedures
    • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Must have the ability to function independently with minimal supervision and with strong attention to detail and follow up/completion of assigned action items.
  • Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shift schedule as needed

 

Desired Skills:

  • Yellow Belt Certified
  • Project management experience
  • Self-sufficient and results driven

The range for this position is $80,750.00 - $111,031.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
