The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

 

Scope of Position:

The intern will work with a team of highly motivated and skilled engineers and technicians to manage, modify, and develop control systems required to manufacture optical fiber and the associated computer systems to support manufacturing.

 

Responsibilities:

  • The intern will also be responsible for developing or modifying other software systems that support manufacturing in the plant such as web-based or stand-alone applications.
  • The intern will work closely with engineering and operations teams in the plant to implement improvements.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Enrolled in Computer Science or Computer Engineering program
  • Course work completed to include: Programming course(s) in C, VB, or .NET (C#, VB.NET)
  • Relevant experience a plus

 

Required Skills

  • Ability to collaborate with multiple teams on problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Computer literate in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information
  • Results-oriented
  • Flexibility - Able to change and adjust smoothly as the situation demands
  • Programming experience in C, VB, or .NET (C#, VB.NET).
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
