Role Purpose: The person in this position will join a team of highly motivated and skilled engineers and technicians to manage, modify, and develop MES systems required to manufacture optical fiber and the associated computer systems to support manufacturing. This person will also participate in or occasionally lead projects to meet the plant’s objectives or drive cost reduction efforts.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • This position will be responsible for owning the IT-related MES software associated with the manufacturing process in the Concord Optical Fiber manufacturing plant. In this capacity, he/she will work closely with engineering and operations teams in the plant to implement improvements in this process area.
  • The person will become the expert in their area of responsibility along with ancillary data interfaces to a controls systems and data feeds to Reporting/ERP Systems.
  • The Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Solution developer role will be responsible for working with business leaders and users as well as IT resources to define, develop, implement and support standardized MES solutions to support various business needs
  • Design, implement and support MES systems in accordance to standard Corning IT practices
  • Engage with internal/external customers to analyze requirements from a business and systems perspective by interpreting business goals and objectives and translating them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure that MES design and development work is completed on schedule and that impacts to manufacturing systems are thoroughly documented and communicated to business users

 

Education:  Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.

 

Years of Experience: 3-5 years of combined experience in IT.

 

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution System) System – Camstar
  • Experience developing and maintaining applications using VB6, VB.NET, ASP.NET, MSMQ, XML.
  • Back End development skills and knowledge of relational databases (Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server).
  • Willing to be on off-hours call on rotational basis in a 24x7 manufacturing environment

 

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experienced working with IT systems in a 24/7 manufacturing plant environment
  • Experience in Camstar Enterprise Suite Designer Modelling Web Portal & System Admin Tools
