The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success.  It delivers the training, tools and opportunities needed to create innovative solutions for the function & the corporation.  GSM has leading edge, effective processes to anticipate and exceed customer requirements.

Role Purpose

As a Sr Specialist, Procurement, you will assist and/or lead the development, communication, and execution of Global Supply Management (GSM) strategies to procure products and services across global commodities. This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work cross-functionally and drive value while ensuring alignment with Corning's business objectives. 

Key Responsibilities

-Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans based on demand forecasts, business needs, and market trends. 

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create sourcing strategies, negotiate supplier contracts, and maximize value. 

- Resolve issues related to contracts, quality, payments, and supply/service performance with suppliers and end users. 

- Monitor and communicate global commodity intelligence, including market trends, pricing shifts, and supplier performance metrics. 

- Manage and strengthen supplier relationships by implementing improvement programs, resolving disputes, and ensuring alignment with company needs. 

- Lead RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs and evaluate supplier proposals to identify best-value solutions. 

- Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities to deliver measurable results. 

- Negotiate supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and minimizing total cost of ownership (TCO). 

- Collaborate with Legal during contract development to ensure accuracy, mitigate risks, and achieve favorable outcomes. 

- Advocate for and ensure compliance with Corning’s Global Buying Policy. 

 

Performance Metrics:

- Contribution to organizational and global supply chain objectives. 

- Quality and performance of assigned suppliers. 

- Effective management and contract coverage for strategic suppliers. 

- Simplification of procurement processes & reduction of transaction-related inefficiencies. 

Experiences/Education - Required

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field. 

- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in GSM processes, inventory management, and supply chain operations.

- Proficiency in SAP or other ERP systems. 

- Strong analytical skills and/or experience working on cross-functional project teams. 

Experiences/Education - Desired

- Experience as a Buyer in plant or corporate settings. 

- Cross-business, division, or technology experience. 

- Exposure to global manufacturing and business operations through professional work or projects. 

- Background in manufacturing operations, planning, engineering, supply chain management, or procurement. 

- Experience working in matrix environments or on cross-functional teams. 

- Relevant certifications (e.g., C.P.M., CPSM, APICS, or related Supply Chain certifications).

The range for this position is $69,318.00 - $95,313.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
