Role Purpose
Corning’s Law Department, within its Intellectual Property (IP) Center of Excellence, is seeking an Intellectual Asset Analyst (IAA) to lead and support processes and projects related to the IP needs and objectives of Corning Display Technologies. The IAA role is dynamic, multi-disciplinary, and multi-functional, leveraging technical expertise, IP knowledge, and business acumen to serve a variety of internal clients including IP attorneys, engineering teams, research scientists, and business leaders. Responsibilities include patent portfolio development and management, competitor/third-party IP monitoring and analysis, IP risk management, trade secret management among other tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage or support processes for ongoing technical analysis and IP risk assessment of third-party patent publications related to display glass manufacturing technologies, working closely with technical experts and IP attorneys.
- Conduct patent searches, IP risk assessments, and evaluations of patentability or other IP/legal needs; this includes analyzing findings, compiling reports, and creating presentations.
- Support legal enforcement efforts against infringing products by compiling necessary documentation for IP counsel.
- Assist in the development and management of the IP portfolio by participating in teams that review invention disclosures, formulate patent prosecution strategies, make decisions on patent maintenance, and conduct other reviews. This includes resolving identified action items and performing relevant tasks assigned by the IP team.
- Aid in the protection and management of trade secrets.
- Interact with project teams and business programs to facilitate or assist with IP evaluations, brainstorming sessions, or other opportunities to identify, capture, and develop intellectual property.
- Collaborate with other Intellectual Assets team members on various projects and initiatives within the IP department that support multiple businesses and divisions across the corporation.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or materials engineering, or a related field such as chemistry, physics, or materials science.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in using analyses to generate actionable insights.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency and the ability to quickly understand new technologies.
- Ability to facilitate interactions with cross-functional and international teams effectively.
- Strong research skills and proactive information-seeking abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; willingness and ability to learn new software applications.
- Capability to multitask and manage a large/variable workload efficiently.
- 3+ years of experience in a technology or engineering environment and/or over 3 years of experience with invention disclosure and patent processes.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Experience in conducting patent and/or literature searches.
- Experience in coordinating remote teams across different time zones, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
- Strong interpersonal skills that foster positive relationships with colleagues from diverse backgrounds both virtually and face-to-face.
- Master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or materials engineering, or a related field such as chemistry, physics, or materials science.
Travel: <10% total travel (Position may occasionally require domestic travel within the US and international travel to Asia).

The range for this position is $75,902.00 - $104,366.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
