SCOPE OF POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to support the growth of the Semiconductor Materials business through alignment of customer product/support needs with internal capabilities and resources. This includes coordinating and leading technical meetings/communications with key customers, leading and facilitating project updates for new product/attribute development, qualifying internally-initiated product and process changes with the customer, and leading customer-facing responses to major quality issues and associated product evolution.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary owner for product and process capability attributes of ULE® glass, HPFS® glass, and blanks and optics made from these materials, including knowledge on how attributes are attained, measured, and kept in control.
- Leads, or assists, and at a minimum approves the translation of customer requirements into internal product requirements and process input and output conditions
- Leads and/or assists account managers in coordinating technical customer engagements, including preparation of technical slide deck information.
- Serves as project leader for customer data sharing, specification conformance, and select major quality issue resolution (coordinates with Quality, Engineering, and other plant functions).
- Assists with technical road mapping, including attribute improvement and product expansion in line with customer roadmaps. Closely collaborates with customer and product line manager to understand value of product changes.
- Assists with understanding and communicating internally-driven or supplier-driven process changes to customers, including presentation of supporting data
- Participates in and leads (as appropriate) process or product improvement projects with plant and division functions (e.g. engineering, division engineering, development, planning). This includes short term customer improvement requests and long term attribute improvement projects.
- Develops relationships within customer’s engineering, development, and operations organizations to advance Corning’s position for new & continued business.
- Creates detailed statements of work to support quotes for projects including multi-phase development efforts, working with PLM and Account manager to ensure such documents comply with all contractual requirements as defined with legal
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in technology-driven manufacturing environment.
- 2-3 years in either account management, applications engineering, or engineering role with direct customer or new product development support.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in project management and root cause analysis / troubleshooting.
- Ability to collaborate across functional groups, customer organizations, and cross-cultural environments.
- Ability to incorporate feedback and direction from customers, supervisors and internal management.
- 25% annual travel requirement.
Desired Experience:
- Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science.
- 3-5 years in engineering, project management, or manufacturing experience in technology-leading company with tangible (non-service) products.
- Semiconductor industry experience.
- Knowledge of lithography processes.
- Experience in glass manufacturing.
- Experience in optics.

The range for this position is $94,454.00 - $129,875.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
