Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
This position is responsible for supporting the management of one of Corning’s optical fiber product lines. The APLM is responsible for driving product line strategy, product positioning, and delivering short and long term profitability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
The position requires an understanding of the market environment, an ability to define product requirements, create go to market strategies (channel access), and develop business cases to support investment in the product line. This individual will work very closely with leaders across our sales and marketing, manufacturing, technology, R&D, and finance organizations in a team setting. Attention to detail, a proactive style, excellent follow-through, and good communication are critical to success. Specific responsibilities include:

Assist in the formulation and implementation of product line strategies to align with and achieve overall business goals.

Act as the lead for projects and commercial initiatives involving new products, extensions, and enhancements, partnering with Technology and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful development, launch, and lifecycle management.

Prepare and present comprehensive business cases for new products, extensions, and enhancements to secure support from division leadership.

Develop compelling value propositions and conduct training sessions for commercial operations to effectively convey product value to customers, including direct customer interactions as necessary.

Analyze the competitive landscape and develop strategies and tactics to effectively counteract competitor activities.

Provide strategic recommendations on criteria for delivering sellable products to commercial operations, and work collaboratively to manage slow-moving inventory, minimize write-offs, and maximize profitability.

Lead the execution of product line strategies to meet both short-term and long-term divisional objectives, including revenue, price, GM, sales volume, and market share
Experiences/Education - Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related technical field; Master of Business Administration a plus
• Ability to lead cross functional teams to achieve critical business objectives
• Strong analytical skills (including financial analysis) and affinity for process rigor
• Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing strategic recommendations
• Outstanding oral and written presentation and communication skills
• Strong teamwork skills
• Ability to create alignment and action plans to support strategies
• Ability to work across regions/cultures
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Technical understanding of optical fiber and understanding of optical cable

The range for this position is $99,433.00 - $136,721.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
