Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Role Purpose:


Corning is seeking a dynamic and results-driven individual to join our team as an Assistant Product Line Manager for our Contour and SBEND optical fiber product lines. This role is critical in driving product line strategies, positioning, and profitability objectives while supporting the management and growth of these cutting-edge products. The successful candidate will collaborate across multiple departments, including sales, marketing, manufacturing, technology, R&D, supply chain, and finance, to achieve strategic goals and deliver innovative solutions to our customers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute product line strategies and life cycle management to align with business goals and maximize profitability.
  • Collaborate with technology and manufacturing teams to define new product requirements, extensions, and enhancements.
  • Act as project and/or commercial lead for new product launches, extensions, and enhancements.
  • Develop robust business cases to secure leadership support for new initiatives, ensuring alignment with division objectives.
  • Create value propositions and train commercial teams to effectively communicate product benefits to customers, including direct customer interaction when required.
  • Analyze competitive market environments and implement strategies to counteract competitor activities.
  • Coordinate with commercial operations to manage inventory, avoid write-offs, and maximize profitability.

Qualifications – Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management/leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams to achieve critical business objectives.
  • Strong analytical skills, including financial analysis, and a detail-oriented approach to process rigor.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic recommendations.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas effectively.
  • Strong teamwork abilities and capacity to align cross-functional teams to support strategies through influence.
  • Ability to work effectively across regions and cultures.

Qualifications – Desired

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a plus.
  • Experience in business/finance, including presenting business cases.
  • Technical understanding of optical fiber and optical cable is an advantage (not required).
  • Operational experience in manufacturing or supply/demand planning is a plus.

The range for this position is $99,433.00 - $136,721.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
