The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success.  It delivers the training, tools and opportunities needed to create innovative solutions for the function & the corporation.  GSM has leading edge, effective processes to anticipate and exceed customer requirements.

Role Purpose:

Develop & execute global logistics strategies & lead activities to manage freight, duty, warehousing, distribution, trade compliance & all associated elements of quality, cost, delivery to meet division business needs. Aligns to division global manufacturing & supply chain strategies, objectives & reporting for process performance & improvement. Supports each division plant & all associated business entities in the management of all logistics functions & 3rd party service providers to deliver optimal cost, business value & results. Works closely with Global Supply Management organization and other Corporate functions for resource allocation, support & governance of 3rd party services, contracts, rates & performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet the strategic needs of the Business as measured in logistics cost, quality, performance, service & culture
  • Lead global team to establish, manage & continuously improve the global business logistics network
  • Leverage the resources & assets of Global Supply Management to drive optimal business results

Collaborate with;

    • Global Supply Management to establish & manage 3rd party logistics relationships, contracts, services & related performance
    • Create alignment & synergy with all key internal business partners to ensure logistics requirements are understood & networks established to deliver on plant &/or customer specific needs
    • Internal business partners to establish, manage and report on global logistics budgets, spend, and performance metrics
    • Work with Corporate & Regional Security to ensure high level of Supply Chain Security
  • Understand forecasted volume (inbound/outbound) and optimize the logistics network to meet the business needs
  • Deliver and manage 3rd party warehousing & distribution solutions based on current and future demand
  • Manage division logistics savings initiatives and total cost reduction portfolio; ensure alignment with Global Supply Management
  • Deliver customer focused margin improvements through total landed cost data modeling and process driven solutions
  • Provide functional logistics leadership & support for all global business plant, distribution and/or cost center with high focus on logistics safety initiatives
  • Govern & audit SOPs to manage and control logistics operations; share & implement best practices within & across regions
  • Develop & maintain a strong linkage to internal & external trade resources to ensure global trade compliance
  • Identify and deliver key technology driven initiatives; ensure alignment to division IT roadmap
  • Supports talent acquisition, development, retention, and movement across divisions. Ensures learning and development plans are in place.

Experiences/Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Technical, Business, or Supply Chain)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in manufacturing (operations, planning, quality, finance, engineering, and/or supply chain)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in global logistics, including freight, warehousing and trade; can be combined with above
  • Experience with logistics and supply chain processes and systems
  • Experience with logistics budget and spend management
  • Proven leadership and matrix management skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Experience in leading projects and matrixed organizations for cost and performance improvements, new product or process innovation, and expanding digital capability
  • Experience in frontline or mainstream business
  • Global mindset (experience working in a global organization and managing people in a global business)
  • Willingness to travel

Desired:

  • Master’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain or Engineering
  • Experience across multiple businesses, divisions, services, functions, and/or technologies
  • Experience with end-to-end global supply chain, logistics and manufacturing through work, project experience, or expatriate assignment
  • Experience with local/regional culture
  • CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management), CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional), CLTD (Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution), or other non-APICS equivalent certification
  • Six Sigma & LEAN Certification
  • Digital Aptitude and Competency- develops and deploys new digital capabilities with minimal instruction
  • Multilingual
