Purpose of the Position:

Utilizing basic knowledge of ceramic powder processing identify root cause understanding of product and process challenges. Identify, refine, and implement measurements and controls opportunities to improve ceramic-based process robustness and product quality. Apply knowledge of ceramics to identify new and improved equipment designs for improved process control and performance.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory and plant based experimental studies evaluating process and measurement equipment.
  • Engineering and scientific evaluation of experimental evaluations of product properties and process variability.
  • Basic processing engineering. 

 

Education & Experience: PhD in Ceramic Science or Engineering preferred.

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of ceramic powder processing.
  • Excellent background in use of characterization tools like SEM, Powder XRD, Thermal Analyses, particle size distribution, SA.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills and technical curiosity.
  • Excel, statistical analysis, and other data analysis tools.
  • Interest to provide value prop analyses and cost/benefit understandings for newly proposed process equipment or measurements and controls.

 

Desired Skills:

  • An interest in technical leadership opportunities.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Clearly and concisely communicate with plant engineers and operations personnel to plan and execute experiments on manufacturing equipment.
  • Must be willing to continuously learn about new areas of science and engineering in order to support new technology to manufacturing.
  • Strong written and verbal skills capable of documenting results of work and presenting results to a team.

 

Work Schedule: 40 hours a week around a flex-time schedule with core hours of 9-3pm.

 

Travel Requirements: Some international travel may be required.
