Scope of Position:

The Global Operations Transformation (GOT) office is commissioned to drive the company’s multi-year enterprise resource planning (ERP) transformation from 31 disparate and aging ERP systems across Corning to 3 instances of SAP S/4 HANA. The consolidation of Corning’s current ERP application environments onto a common platform will enable the delivery of enhanced functional capabilities, business efficiencies, increased agility, and a lower ERP cost structure for the company. The GOT team will ensure Corning has a business-led, enterprise-wide approach to the transformation, establishing appropriate standards for data and processes where needed, while supporting the migration of our businesses before, during, and after their implementations. Key to this transformation is the management of change to Corning’s organization – both at the corporate level and within the individual businesses and functions.

 

The role of the Change Management Lead will be to effectively manage the change required to enable the successful deployment and adoption of an SAP S/4 HANA ERP system and the associated changes in business processes, structure, staff roles and responsibilities. This position is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of an integrated approach to stakeholder management, communications, training, system deployment and use of sustainable support structures needed to effectively drive adoption of the new system and processes. They will be a key driver of change across the global organization and will work in close partnership with Business Units, Central Finance, Supply Chain, Communications, and HR among other functions. Part of this effort is assessing the scope of change required for implementation of standardized global business processes across the organization and ensuring that they are maintained and adhered to consistently.

 

The person in this role should have experience planning and directing the adoption of transformational change brought about by global system implementations that result in significant changes in how the organization operates. Leveraging expertise and best practices in developing clear compelling and creative change, communications and training materials will be critical for success in this role.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Integral member of the Global Operations Transformation Group, attending meetings and workshops to better understand the process, data, and security standards as well as business unit deployment requirements and challenges.
  • Design, develop and implement change management strategies and plans
  • Supervises execution of activities related to organizational change management and end user readiness
  • Manages resolution of potential organizational obstacles
  • Communicates and educates the user community on administrative system progress, objectives, and requirements to include a means by which to evaluate and ensure organizational readiness
  • Works with process teams to ensure that new design elements are being appropriately communicated to the organization and effectively incorporated into end user training content
  • Perform/assess Stakeholder and change impact analysis identifying potential project impacts/risks
  • Complete overall change management assessment
  • Identify and anticipate organizational challenges and/or resistance; develop risk mitigation plan
  • Spearhead initiatives to develop employees’ understanding and acceptance of impacts on specific job roles, policies, technology impacts and business practices
  • Manage change management activities in the OCM Roadmap
  • Guide Communication Team in working with process teams to ensure that new process and technology design elements are being appropriately communicated to the organization
  • Ensures consistent presentation of the project in all media, including presentations, Web sites, memos, speeches, print, etc.
  • Facilitate meetings, deliver presentations as required
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the client at multiple levels
  • Ensures timely and high-quality deliverables of the team
  • Assists with development detailed team-work plan and integration of the Change Management plan into the overall project plan
  • Identifies, tracks, reports and resolves issues
  • Works with other team leads to ensure integration across teams
  • Provides regular updates to GOT team and other Stakeholders as requested

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel to business teams and impacted sites as required for effective implementation – up to 25% travel

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Monday – Friday, standard business hours. Some early or evening meetings may be needed when working across time zones.
  • Remote work acceptable

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree with appropriate project experience in in Organizational Development, Human Performance Technology, Organizational Communications or related degree program required.

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • Minimum of 7+ years’ experience with medium to high complexity change management ERP projects is required
  • Experience in a manufacturing or business environment where ERP was used to conduct business operations (ideally SAP S/4 HANA).
  • Experience with SAP highly preferred

 

Required Skills:

  • Possesses knowledge of the process areas being transformed and an understanding of how the process, including supporting system(s), integrates with other processes and initiatives
  • Possesses knowledge and experience in end-user training strategy
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading the design and implementation of Change Management strategies in support of ERP system deployments
  • Adept at learning the client business, creating internal partnerships, fostering collaboration and recommending strategies that fit the client culture and business model
  • Accreditation in executing change management strategies and partnering with organizational team leads in the design, development and implementation of plans is preferred
  • Competent in diagnosing individual and organizational performance improvement needs, matching intervention methodology with needs, and determining the appropriate development measures
  • Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy to understand business terms to all levels of management including senior leaders
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities with high attention to detail
  • Possesses strong analytical skills, good listening skills with ability to effectively coach and mentor others; must be able to lead by influence
  • Exhibits effective team skills
  • Ability to make decisions at the project team level and properly escalate those decisions that cannot be resolved on a timely basis

 

Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:

  • Change management certification preferred
  • Experience in SAP ERP environment preferred
  • Demonstrates working knowledge with MS-Office suite of software applications and tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS-Project
