Scope of Position: The Chief of Staff will work closely with Corporate Communications leadership in driving the rhythm of the business – thinking holistically and strategically about key operational initiatives, business processes and procedures, supporting and enabling effective execution. This includes the coordination of cross-team initiatives and an effective communications strategy within the team and across the enterprise. As a strategist, consultant, and implementer, the successful candidate will ensure streamlined activities within the organization based on the corporate priorities set by management. The chief of staff will be able to review, design, and execute on improvements to org structure, find knowledge and skills gaps and be proactive addressing issues before they are brought to the vice-president (VP). He/she acts as a confidante and advisor to the VP and her staff, serving as a sounding board. Ultimately, this role makes time, information and decision-making more effective. Day to Day Responsibilities: • Serve as liaison between staff, executives, senior leaders, and leadership, regarding company climate, employee well-being, project updates, proposals, and planning • Build and develop relationships with all employees for increased efficiency and effective responsiveness into existing operations, and help to define new operational strategies, working with Vice President and other executives team members • Ensure the creation and execution of annual communications and marketing plans resulting from identifying and driving focus on the most important opportunities to support the enterprise and businesses during the fiscal year • Partner with HR and leadership team to ensure appropriate talent availability and development across the global communications community • Outline and gain organization buy-in on a roadmap for success against annual priorities • Determine the path forward for a flexible and cohesive culture • Establish and execute global communication information sharing sessions to ensure exchange of best practices, business information and shared work projects • Identify and engage with key stakeholders to drive the creation and successful process work of One Communication for Corning. • Oversee daily operations through collaboration with senior management and department leaders, performing an array of tasks from generating correspondence, maintaining hard copy and electronic files, planning and coordinating quarterly, and annually executive meetings, and scheduling facilities • Partner closely with the leadership team and the department admin to identify and execute projects optimally, including financial management and network of external resources. Travel Requirements: • Limited travel. Exceptions may include award or opening ceremonies, plant visits, or other relevant events. Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: • Monday – Friday, standard business hours. Required Education: • Bachelor degree in communications or related fields. Master’s degree preferred. • 10+ years of relevant work experience with proven success record. Required Skills: 10+ years experience including strategy & strategic planning, program & project management, marketing/sales, research/analytics (Management consulting experience preferred; focus on operations management) • 7 plus years in business, HR, or executive management role • Experience with budget management • Proven experience managing complex projects across multiple teams and departments • Established track record for organization assessment and problem-solving • Trusted advisor for all levels of global employees • Project planning, management and successful execution • Strategic thinker who can provide experience-based counsel to senior executives • Strong collaborator who can interact effectively with people in diverse positions across the company • Poised professional who can handle sensitive/confidential material and maintain equanimity in stressful situations • Ability to lead, organize, and prioritize • Confident advocate of new ideas • Strong judgment and strategic thinking • Self-motivated, takes initiative • Capable of working independently and as part of matrixed Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills: • Curiosity, willingness to learn, and adapt to fast-paced environment • Sound decision-making skills and composure under pressure • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams • Active listening, attention to details, and organizational skills This position does not support immigration sponsorship.
