Corning’s Compensation & Benefits Center of Excellence (COE) is looking for a Compensation Consultant to support the Americas compensation team.

 

The primary purpose of this role will be to provide direct labor/hourly operational and analytical compensation support to Corning’s Compensation team in the Americas region and its HR and business customers. As this role is in a multi-regional team, it may also be asked to support the EMEA team as well. This position is based in Corning NY, United States. This position will ensure that:

  • COE programs/processes/policies support the attraction and retention of the number and type of talent required to execute corporate strategy
  • COE programs/processes/policies establish and reinforce Corning Values and positive work environment, while complying with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • COE key stakeholders fully understand the value, benefit, and use of COE programs/processes/policies. Ensures standards and guidelines are understood and consistently applied
  • COE programs/processes/policies meet or beat quality and delivery expectations • Financial decisions and recommendations support top quartile cost performance objectives while maintaining appropriate levels of HR service delivery
  • Compensation and benefit programs are aligned with Corning’s overall Total Reward philosophy and framework

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development and management of all direct labor/hourly compensation pay programs and policies for all U.S. union and union-free locations.
  • Responsible for overseeing and executing annual salary review / compensation planning to include tool development, testing, business and plant HR training, and end-to-end process data analysis.
  • Provide compensation analysis work when requested by BUHR or COE (e.g., union-free hourly grade movement recommendations, total compensation analysis for union-free hourly positions, compensation program survey completion, compensation cost analysis for project initiatives, etc.).
  • Become an expert in union hourly compensation wage analysis, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide “in-house consultant” services to Plant HR managers, Shared Services, Employee Relations COE, and Talent Acquisition COE around union-free hourly and union policy and pay interpretation, compensation analysis, progressions, compensation dispute resolution, and job analysis.
  • Ownership of the U.S. Job Evaluation process for union and union-free hourly jobs, to include office of record of all evaluations, training program ownership, answer questions from the field, and ensure overall compliance with each of the evaluation programs.
  • Obtain functional knowledge related to compensation in areas of compliance, legal, and audit.
  • Ensure that the governance and administration of various compensation programs comply with established guidelines, processes, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with business unit and plant HR, Shared Services, and other HR COEs.
  • Implement/deliver new programs or trainings to our business HR units.
  • Provide additional program ownership and/or support for global programs as appropriate or delegated.
  • Partner with the COE Communications Manager to develop training/communication materials.

 

Required Education/Experience: Ideal candidates are HR professionals with a bachelor’s degree in related field, with 5+ years of compensation management experience. Experience working in a manufacturing setting and having direct labor compensation management/analysis experience is a plus. Candidates should have experience with and understanding of the importance of HRIS systems and can learn these systems quickly (e.g., SAP SuccessFactors, UKG Kronos, etc.). Finally, the ideal candidate is a high-energy and result-focused team player with proven analytical, excel, and communication skills, who is inquisitive, able to learn quickly and keen to throw oneself into new experiences.

 

Some travel (10%) may be required to U.S. manufacturing sites for job evaluation purposes.
