Role Purpose

The Business Controller for the Emerging Innovations Group will serve as a strategic financial partner to the division, driving business performance, decision-making, and operational excellence. This role is responsible for overseeing financial processes, and analysis while ensuring alignment with the division’s innovation goals and broader corporate objectives. The Business Controller will collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate financial implications of new initiatives, optimize resource allocation, and provide actionable insights to support growth within this fast-paced and forward-thinking division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with operational teams to foster collaboration and alignment between financial goals and innovation objectives.
  • Support the development of financial tools and processes to empower teams with actionable data.
  • Evaluate feasibility and ROI for new business opportunities, partnerships, and market expansions.
  • Collaborate on pricing strategies, product launches, and other innovation-driven initiatives.
  • Review and analyze commercial contracts to identify financial risks and opportunities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop cost models for new products, applications, and technologies to support decision-making and ensure profitability.
  • Oversee cost analysis and management for projects, ensuring alignment with internal and external funding and profitability goals.
  • Use financial models to optimize resource allocation across teams and initiatives to maximize financial returns
  • Lead the development of financial forecasts, budgets, and long-term planning for the EIG portfolio of projects.
  • Conduct financial modeling and scenario analysis to assess the impact of new business initiatives, market opportunities, and investment decisions.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in financial planning, analysis, or business controlling, preferably within innovative or fast-paced industries.
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret financial data, with advanced skills in financial/cost modeling and forecasting.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and drive alignment between financial and operational objectives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex challenges and provide actionable solutions.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Experience in innovation-driven industries such as technology, biotechnology, or renewable energy.
  • Familiarity with project-based financial analysis and cost management for R&D or product development.
  • Expertise in reviewing commercial contracts and developing cost models for new products and applications.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term planning and day-to-day operational demands.

The range for this position is $158,902.00 - $218,490.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
