What you'll do:

 

You will be Corning’s Environmental, Sustainability & Governance Controller (ESG) leading the Finance organization cross-functionally. This is a Senior Manager level role as part of the Finance organization reporting directly to the ACR – Director of Internal Audit and Special Topics. Your responsibilities will span the entire Finance organization and you will work closely with Corning’s Legal, Tax, and Sustainability departments as well as Engineering, Operations, and other functional teams across the company on Corning’s Sustainability initiatives and commitments.

You will be a key leader in Corning’s Sustainability efforts.  Corning has been creating and measuring progress and outcomes of our Sustainability initiatives and commitments on a global scale for many years. By setting clear goals, measuring our progress, and transparently disclosing our impact, we’re able to provide an account of the difference we are making and to learn from our outcomes.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Be the single point of contact at a leadership level on all Sustainability matters for the Finance organization.
  • Work with the Director External Reporting, Sustainability leadership and Corporate Legal team to further develop reporting and disclosure strategy and lead the Finance organization’s efforts.
  • Develop a deep expertise on Sustainability trends, frameworks, regulatory requirements, etc. to advise management on required disclosures.
  • Lead the implementation of new disclosures that are expected to be required worldwide by various global regulatory organizations.
  • Ensure that the company maintains an effective system of internal controls, enhance our system capabilities, refine our Sustainability governance structure, continuing to ensure our Sustainability data is of the highest quality.
  • Work with Corning’s Sustainability Function to develop and drive the agenda ensuring that all functions within the company develop and meet their respective action plans in support of Corning’s overall Sustainability initiatives and commitments.
  • Influence and interact with senior executives and key stakeholders, assessing the need to obtain audit assurance over certain metrics and public disclosures.
  • Present to senior leadership on a regular basis on our status and progress across a broad range of internal stakeholders.

 

This role will give you an excellent opportunity to:

  • Become a subject matter expert on highly relevant Sustainability topics that are critically important worldwide.
  • Develop an expertise in technical Sustainability reporting requirements including new regulations, various frameworks, financial reporting, compliance, internal controls and implementing new disclosure requirements.

 

Skillsets for this job:

  • A highly motivated, self-starter, results-oriented with an ability to work on multiple deliverables at the same time and drive projects to completion with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Must have a strong financial background.  Able to execute in a complex, fast-paced large corporate environment.
  • Good communication and proven cross-functional collaboration, influencing and teamwork skills,
  • Good at building and cultivating strong relationships with business partners.
  • Have expertise with financial reporting systems and applications.
  • Process, governance, and controls experience and skills is required.

 

Minimum requirements for this role:

  • Bachelors’ degree, accounting emphasis preferred.
  • 10+ years of strong finance background, with dedicated experience in ESG and/or financial reporting, processes, and internal controls.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Able to react to changes quickly and handle pressure.

 

Preferred locations include: Corning, NY and/or Charlotte, NC.

The range for this position is $156,417.00 - $215,074.00.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
