Scope of Position:

Corning Shared Services (CSS) supports Corning’s global operations and delivers profitable growth through evolving processes, ensuring compliance, and executing vital transactions. CSS has a leading role for the Close-to-Report (CTR) Manager. The CSS Manager, CTR NA oversees the global consolidation of a Fortune 300 company and is required to work with all divisions and corporate functions to deliver consolidated financial statements. The CSS Manager, CTR NA has responsibility for overall leadership of the Close-to-Report operations team including:

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable Corning and government financial regulations and GAAP accounting principles, standards, and procedures (Integrity)
  • Ensuring the successful execution of business programs, processes and procedures that fully support achievement of the finance function goals and objectives
  • Ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate, and cost-effective accounting processes to customers

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the delivery of timely, accurate, and GAAP compliant consolidated financial statements to customers
  • Implement and ensure adherence to internal finance controls including data and reporting standards and compliance procedures (e.g., Sarbanes Oxley regulations, internal and external audits)
  • Set objectives for the CTR stream and individuals and monitor their progress
  • Management of department spending and budget to ensure goals are achieved
  • Develop and implement specific processes that deliver SARBOX compliance (e.g., keep controls documented, employees trained, self-audit program working – builds quality into operating procedures).
  • Develops and tracks operational metrics/objectives with feedback and action plans designed to any address gaps.
  • Promotes a positive reputation and image of Corning in the local community.
  • Clearly assign responsibility for tasks and decisions; sets clear objectives and measures; monitors process, progress, and results; designs feedback loops into work.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance. MBA preferred.
  • CPA

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • 8-10 years relevant experience (Combination of U.S. "Big 4" public accounting firm and/or U.S. multinational corporation(s).
  • Experience in Technical Accounting/SOX
  • Finance Shared Services, Global Business Services, or other process-intensive experience (e.g., analytical services)
  • Experience supervising work of others through subordinate management team
