Role Purpose

Join a dynamic and innovative team driving cutting-edge technology development at Corning Incorporated. We are seeking a skilled Design Technician to support our Forming Equipment Technology group, with a focus on detailed design, hands-on mechanical work, and robust project implementation. This role offers the chance to contribute to key initiatives while working on exciting new technologies and optimizing existing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers to design and detail forming process equipment using CAD tools (SolidWorks strongly preferred).
  • Perform hands-on work with mechanical equipment, including installation, debugging, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Evaluate incoming design changes and actively participate in design reviews.
  • Create technical documentation, including scope of work documents for supplier quotes and purchase orders.
  • Support equipment fabrication, test runs, and acceptance with suppliers.
  • Represent the Forming Design team in technical discussions, design reviews, and problem analysis meetings.
  • Work across domestic and international sites to ensure adherence to design standards and support research and development equipment implementations.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Technology or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in design or engineering support roles.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Competence in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Knowledge of standard machining processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively with minimal supervision.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Experience designing high-temperature equipment.
  • Familiarity with metal and ceramic fabrication processes.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

The range for this position is $62,335.00 - $85,711.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
