The global Human Resource (HR) Function provides an integrated talent management system that delivers a workforce that is Corning's competitive differentiator in the global marketplace.

HR provides service offerings that align solutions to business challenges by ensuring the programs are Effective, Efficient, Global, Scaleable, and Repeatable.  Corning’s Values are operationalized by the HR Function through the facilitation of Talent Management offerings, as well as programs and processes that aid in making Corning’s Values visible.

Role Purpose

The Director, Learning & Development is responsible for leading learning and leadership development for Corning employees and leaders worldwide. This position manages a team and is a key thought leader and advisor to senior leadership on talent development, organizational upskilling and learning innovations. This position reports to Corning’s VP, Talent Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-create and execute an impactful Learning & Development strategy in close partnership with business leaders, aligned with Corning’s business priorities, growth trajectory, and global workforce needs
    • Partner with business and HR leaders to shape future-focused learning and leadership development solutions that are adaptive, business-relevant, and integrated into the flow of work.
    • Partner closely with business leaders to assess needs, prioritize investments, and orchestrate learning solutions for employees across geographies, roles, specialties, and tenures, ensuring solutions evolve with changing business needs.
    • Drive innovation across the function by translating emerging trends and business priorities into practical, scalable solutions, building stakeholder alignment and adoption along the way.
    • Leverage innovative delivery methods—from in-person programs and virtual training to digital platforms—to maximize reach, engagement, and behavioral change, while aligning delivery choices to business context, learner needs, and operational realities.
    • Integrate advanced technologies such as AI, immersive learning, and analytics to enhance learning impact, speed, and efficiency, while bringing leaders and teams along in adoption and ensuring solutions are practical and relevant to the business.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Proven Experience: 15+ years in a senior Talent Development, Learning leadership, or HR Business Partner role
  • Experience in a global and matrixed environment with a diverse workforce   
  • Strategic Vision: Deep understanding of business needs and priorities and how to continuously develop talent in a dynamic environment
  • Collaborative Leadership: Strong ability to work with senior stakeholders, lead global team, and align diverse perspectives.
  • Data-Driven Approach: Skilled in leveraging data and analytics to measure impact, refine programs, and drive continuous improvement.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Educational Background: Advanced degree in Organizational Development, Learning & Development, Human Resources, Business, or related fields preferred.

The range for this position is $172,964.00 - $237,826.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
