About the Role

Corning Inc. is seeking a senior Supply Chain leader to join the Indirect Procurement Team. This leader has responsibility for managing MRO parts and services, and the Professional Services sourcing organizations.  As the leader of this group, s/he will ensure that Corning obtains the maximum value (price, quality, service) of the goods and services procured in the MRO and Professional Services space. This position sets functional strategies to support industry and supplier Research, supplier selection process including the establishment of category councils, supplier performance management, negotiation, and management of all MRO and Professional Services contracts. 

 

The Director, Global Procurement, MRO and Professional Services will manage a team of ~ 18 and a spend of ~$1.6B.

 

Key Responsibilities of the role but are not limited to:

  • Create and drive the global strategy for supplier spend exceeding $1B.
  • Ensure supplier competition, selection, and compliance processes meet approved quality and delivery standards. Provide strategic guidance for the sourcing strategy to the Category Management team to enhance product and market knowledge.
  • Lead a global cross-functional team in support of Business Unit/Category Management strategies.
  • Lead initiatives to achieve total cost solutions for the end to end supply chain.
  • Own all elements of category management, including: strategic understanding of the supply market place, pricing and term negotiations, preparation and analysis of Global/Regional bid proposals/packages, supplier selection, negotiation and communication with users across plants.
  • Attract, develop, and retain top procurement talent. Build capabilities and form a high-performance team. Provide department oversight, operating standards and accountability.
  • Set the strategy and lead the development, implementation, and management of corporate policies, processes, compliance programs, procurement systems, and metrics reporting.
  • Implement value driven programs that achieve internal savings targets and deliver enterprise wide process improvement. Continually address and resolve organizational barriers with agile decision making and outstanding communication of risk versus reward. Provide thought leadership and the ability to execute on global and regional programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization to the procurement and supply chain processes through benchmarks and scorecards.

 

Minimum Experience and Education Requirements: 

  • 10-15 years’ experience in strategic sourcing/procurement in a global manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading teams in a global matrixed organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Experience with contract management and negotiations.
  • Experience building and executing a strategic category plan.

  • World class prioritization of work, project commitment and continuous improvement within Product Supply.
  • Progressive yet practical approach to procurement focused on unlocking value and improving service.
  • Ability to identify and execute process improvement initiatives that will drive productivity improvements, reduce costs and improve profitability. 
  • Master’s degree preferred.

 

Location and Travel Requirement:

  • Corning, NY or will consider candidates currently in Charlotte, NC
  • Up to 25% domestic and international travel

The range for this position is  $186,735.00 - $256,761.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
