Role Purpose
Scope of Position: Provide day-to-day leadership for safety, health and environmental programs and processes for Workplace Services Division operations at various Corning, NY locations.
Role within group: The successful candidate will be involved with a variety of programs requiring EH&S evaluation and direction. The position will maintain ownership for specified EH&S programs and includes daily interfacing with Workplace Services operations as well as internal tenant groups.
Key Responsibilities
· Ensures compliance with EPA, NYSDEC, OSHA and other applicable regulatory agencies.
· Lead deployment of safety programs and initiatives to manage high risk activities and reduce injuries.
· Provides direction for various groups including contractors and operations to maintain environmental and safety compliance.
· Identify and assess EH&S risks and develop strategies and initiatives to promote continuous improvement.
· Implement corporate safety and environmental policies and requirements.
· Works to ensure that the facility remains current in all reporting requirements to corporate, state, local and federal agencies.
· Participate with review of capital projects and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with environmental and safety requirements.
· Conducts frequent EH&S inspections and work with affected groups to implement corrective actions.
· Implement changes to procedures or new procedures as needed which affect environmental and safety compliance programs.
· Conduct investigations for environmental events and safety incidents to determine root cause and develop appropriate corrective actions.
· Assist with training delivery for required environmental and safety compliance training.
Experiences/Education - Required
- B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Safety, Physical Sciences, or related technical field
- 3 years+ of experience in EH&S activities/responsibilities
- Working knowledge of environmental and safety regulatory programs.
- Ability to interpret and communicate regulatory compliance requirements to all levels
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Ability to independently perform work
- Knowledge and experience in State (preferably NYS DEC), EPA, and OSHA and requirements
- Self directed and demonstrates the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Experience with Quality/PEx utilizing Six Sigma DMAIC approach
- EPA RCRA Hazardous Waste and DOT Hazardous Materials Trained/Certified
Travel Requirements:
Local in Corning NY area Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40 hours/week

The range for this position is $73,310.00 - $100,801.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
