Role Purpose
This position is responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment for all Workplace Services (WPS) operations throughout the Corning NY area. The position will support compliance with applicable federal, state, local and internal environmental, health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day EH&S guidance and interact with personnel at various levels to maintain compliance and promote employee engagement.
- Conduct risk assessments using methodologies appropriate to the operation and hazards, and work to implement appropriate controls. Examples include general risk assessments, ergonomic evaluations, machine guarding assessments and PPE assessments.
- Perform general and regulatory inspections, such as building and grounds inspections, hazardous waste, and spill prevention inspections.
- Support Corporate and external audits including ISO 14001, Corporate Safety Assessment, and Environmental Audits. Assist with corrective actions.
- Participate in near miss and incident response including investigation and development of corrective or preventive actions. Respond to employee questions and concerns related to EH&S.
- Support environmental compliance and permitting as needed through data and sample collection, analysis, and summary reports.
- Develop EH&S-related procedures and documents as needed to support compliance, such as SOPs/JSAs, LOTO procedures, and other written programs and forms.
- Develop, implement, and enforce site specific programs as needed to maintain compliance with laws, codes, and other regulations.
- Provide input on short (annual) and long term (3-5 year) goals for environmental, health and safety program improvements.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in: Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field of study
- 1+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA and other relevant regulations and standards.
- Effective management of competing priorities based on risk.
- Strong interpersonal skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills (DMAIC, DESGN).
- Strong presentation skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of audit procedures (ISO 14001, Regulatory).
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Manufacturing based experience.
- EPA Hazardous Waste and DOT Hazardous Materials Certification.
- Work experience in a unionized environment.
Hours of Work/ Schedule
M-F 8-5, some off-hour; weekend and holiday hours as needed to support operations.
This position does not support immigration sponsorship.
The range for this position is $60,410.00 - $83,065.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
