Role Purpose

Monitors daily operations of a unit and actively assists, or provides direction to, subordinates as required. Performs ongoing operational tasks of organizational units. Manages projects to improve overall efficiency

Key Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise 1st shift housekeeping staff across multiple Workplace Services (WPS) locations within the Downtown Corning, NY area.
  • Oversee Laborer Operations for the Downtown Campus.
  • Manage daily Building and Grounds operations, including landscaping and snow removal.
  • Travel daily between locations (within a 1-mile radius).
  • Interact with customers daily to address their needs and ensure excellent service.
  • Manage hourly payroll, attendance, and compliance with plant rules and policies.
  • Supervise all housekeeping activities and maintain daily schedules, including special customer requests.
  • Coordinate with Building & Grounds vendors, including writing and managing purchase orders and developing scopes of work.
  • Define and support departmental objectives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Respond to and resolve facility needs during shifts, including maintenance and laborer operations.
  • Track team performance in collaboration with the audit team.
  • Control spending to maintain budgets for housekeeping, laborer, and Building & Grounds operations.
  • Ensure completion of all training requirements for employees, including safety training.
  • Attend daily meetings to prioritize tasks and provide updates on ongoing activities.
  • Address personnel issues at the first level and apply the discipline process as necessary.
  • Participate in Workplace Services projects as required

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Office.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Previous supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in facilities, plant, or manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on leadership style.
  • Familiarity with Corning-specific union/management processes.
  • Knowledge of CMMS Maximo System, Kronos payroll systems, and True Blue software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization

 

Work Schedule

  • Shift: 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday).
  • Overtime and on-call rotations required per WPS schedule.
  • Occasional weekend coverage as needed.

The range for this position is $82,426.00 - $113,337.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
