Scope of Position:

As the Finance Analyst for our group, you will ensure regional compliance with local regulations, GAAP accounting principles and Corning policies and procedures. You will be responsible for the preparation of period closing process including posting of vouchers and accuracy of the general ledger. You will also ensure the required reporting is completed accurately and on a timely basis plus provide ad-hoc financial analysis for management. You will assist with the financial portion of our budget and five-year planning process for our Division.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Prepares the monthly business financial consolidation and reporting.
  • Monitors and reports regional financial performance to management.
  • Highlights variances that need corrective action.
  • Monitors spending and works with department managers to control costs.
  • Researches and provides detail on expense variances.
  • Drives process / operational improvement.
  • Provides financial analysis related to capital projects, strategic investments, cost reduction, and other initiatives as required.


Work Hours

  • Typical hours are 8am - 5pm M-F (Flexibility offered when available)
  • Overtime required as business demands dictate



  • You can expect negligible travel



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or similar
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience working on cross functional teams to solve complex business problems.


Required Skills:

  • GAAP accounting
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to be comfortable interacting and communicating with all aspects of the business, including stream managers and senior managers.
  • Sound cross functional skills
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Excel / PowerPoint, general ledger systems & forecasting tools
  • Ability to act under pressure in a dynamic, diverse environment
  • Strong analytical skills, presentation skills and problem solving capability


Desired Skills:

  • MBA
  • CPA
  • Working experience with PeopleSoft, SAP, Khalix
  • Performance Excellence knowledge (Six Sigma, lean processes)
