Scope of Position

The individual will join Corning’s Materials Forming Directorate as a Forming Equipment summer intern. As a Forming Equipment Intern, you will assist in providing technical insight, designing, modeling, and running experiments on equipment to develop understanding of forming processes. This internship primarily focuses on supporting new equipment and process technologies being developed by Corning for products such as Bendable Glass, Gorilla® Glass, Fiber Optics, and Fiber Optic Cables.  

We are looking for a motivated individual with a keen interest in equipment and process design, a willingness to learn and grow, and strong interpersonal skills to work with interdisciplinary teams. Ideal candidates will possess effective communication and presentation skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Some exposure to technical research, data analysis, and hands-on experimentation is desirable.

Requirements

  • College student pursuing B.S or Ph. D in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, or similar discipline, with coursework relevant to mechanical design, manufacturing processes, or materials behavior.
  • Experience or coursework involving engineering analysis, experimentation, or data interpretation, including the ability to draw conclusions from test results and observations.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and structured technical thinking.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May 27-July 31, 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later and willing to work at the posted job location: Corning, NY.

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
