The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success.  It delivers the training, tools and opportunities needed to create innovative solutions for the function & the corporation.  GSM has leading edge, effective processes to anticipate and exceed customer requirements.

Role Purpose:

Leads the development of Global Supply Management (GSM) programs to deliver improved business value, leveraging current and future industry trends. Develops and directs change management strategies to facilitate effective program deployment. Specific to this role, Corning is faced with significant projected growth over the next 3-5 years. Various sources of material in the current supply chain are currently strained to meet business needs.

This role will lead a multi-division initiative to:

  • Clearly define and map the existing supply chain of critical sourced materials for the major product families.
  • Clearly define current and future supply chain capacity needs for critical material components (Business demand driven; Planning coordinated)
  • Analysis of the current ability of the related supply chain to meet forecasted demand
  • Identify gaps, prioritize, develop /implement mitigation plans to address capacity needs in conjunction with category leads, PSM and CM SSM’s as required.
  • Key related activity to be completed in conjunction with other team players would include but not limited to:
    • Situation analysis
    • Sourcing strategy develop, reviews, updates
    • Single source sole source risk identification and mitigation
    • Contract development and related negotiation
  • Additionally, position will engage with selected new business development project teams to drive needed sourcing strategies and realization of related supply requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes key program strategies, including compelling business case, validation against key customer needs, and defining future roadmap.
  • Develops comprehensive program plans to execute the strategy, including funding resources, timelines and training plans.
  • Leads and manages a multi-business GSM team (in some cases including business unit representatives) in order to deliver program objectives.
  • Leads effort to understand GSM industry trends, identify gaps and develop and implement solution architecture to address gaps.
  • Develops and manages program budgets (as required).
  • Secures and manages resources (including GSM, business and external resources) to support strategy deployment.
  • Develops and implements Change Management strategy, including internal and external communications, to gain business support for programs.
  • Leads and manages a cross-functional, matrixed program development and deployment team, including representation from GSM, Operations, Finance, IT, Legal, Commercial in order to deliver program objectives.
  • Partners with Strategic Sourcing resources to negotiate, develop, and manage contracts, as required.
  • Leverages third party resources to achieve effective solutions utilizing SRM processes.
  • Supervises direct reports, as required.
  • May serve as process owner for key GSM processes and gatekeeper for process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identifies and develops key talent.
  • Champions and advocates for the Global Buying Policy. Ensures compliance.

Experiences/Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading projects.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading multi-functional teams.

Desired:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree (Supply Chain).
  • Experience working across one or more Corning functions or divisions.
  • Certified Black Belt.
  • Experience working across cultures.
  • Certified Project Manager (CPM).
