The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success.  It delivers the training, tools and opportunities needed to create innovative solutions for the function & the corporation.  GSM has leading edge, effective processes to anticipate and exceed customer requirements.

 

Role Purpose:

This is a strategic leadership role responsible for building and executing a resilient, cost-competitive, and compliant global supply base that enables Corning’s growth and operational excellence. This leader partners closely with Manufacturing, R&D, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, and Commercial leadership to develop and execute integrated sourcing and supply strategies across direct and indirect materials, contract manufacturing, capital procurement, logistics, and global trade compliance.

This role owns significant global spend, leads a high-impact procurement organization, and leverages Corning’s Global Supply Management capabilities to deliver best-in-class cost, quality, service, and risk performance.

 

This is a high‑impact leadership role with clear visibility and opportunity to grow into a Director‑level position.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute global procurement and supply strategies across direct materials, indirect spend, contract manufacturing, capital procurement, and logistics to support business growth and manufacturing strategy.
  • Own and manage significant global spend, delivering measurable cost reduction, cost avoidance, and total value improvement aligned with financial and operational objectives.
  • Lead strategic supplier and contract manufacturing relationships, ensuring best‑in‑class performance in cost, quality, delivery, yield, and innovation.
  • Partner with senior cross‑functional leaders (Manufacturing, R&D, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Commercial) to align sourcing strategies with product, capacity, and technology roadmaps.
  • Identify and mitigate supply, geopolitical, and operational risks through supplier segmentation, dual sourcing, contingency planning, and supplier development.
  • Drive capital procurement strategy to support capacity expansion, optimize incentives, and ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery of equipment and infrastructure.
  • Leverage corporate Global Supply Management capabilities to maximize global scale, standardization, and enterprise value.
  • Ensure compliance with global buying policies, trade regulations, and governance requirements, including audit readiness and contract controls.
  • Lead, develop, and scale a global procurement organization, including talent development, succession planning, and organizational design.
  • Champion change, continuous improvement, and digital procurement practices to improve efficiency, transparency, and decision‑making across the supply base.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, or operations.
  • Proven success leading global sourcing strategies and supplier negotiations.
  • Experience leading teams in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership, influencing and change management skills.
  • Willingness to travel globally (~30%)

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (MBA or Supply Chain)
  • CPSM, C.P.M., APICS, Lean or Six Sigma certification
  • Experience establishing and managing global manufacturing supply chains.
  • International leadership experience, multilingual capabilities a plus.
  • Experience spanning multiple businesses, technologies, or divisions.

Location:

This position can be based in Corning, NY or Charlotte, NC. 

 

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.  

 

The range for this position is $170,000 - $210,000 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
