Role Purpose:

Provide comprehensive management for the LITHIUM category, in support of business units (Gorilla Glass) requirements

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop Strategic Sourcing plans, aligned to stakeholder objectives, fulfilling current and future demand forecasts with consideration to geopolitical, economic and market trends & conditions impacting LITHIUM supply chain;

• Collaborate with Business (process engineer, glass technology, planning, production) on key initiatives that will drive safety of supply and cost reduction;

• Administer the Lithium Category Council and implement Global Strategy;

• Engage with well-established Lithium based products production/distribution networks, leverage to ensure supply assurance;

• Own the Supplier Relationship Management of suppliers, including risk management, fostering sustainable strategic relations;

• Lead the preparation and delivery of negotiation strategies, to yield best-in-class value.

• Develop and communicate relevant supply intelligence for the various Lithium based products sub-categories. (i.e.: market intelligence, should-cost modeling, consortiums, etc.)

• Communicate with, and report to, stakeholder leadership;

• Identify key stakeholders within the value-chain, including strategic consortium partners, and develop leveraged spend opportunities;

• Champion and advocate CORNING’s Global Buying Policy; ensure regulatory compliance and regional legislation Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Monitor supply market conditions (market trends, supply and key drivers for demand) and assumptions factoring in potential market volatility

• Assess likely supply and demand situation mid-term (over the next 2-3 years) and long term based on different market scenarios

• Develop set of strategic options (considering attractiveness of each option and including degree of risk) and strategic sourcing plans considering supplier-specific situations and align with the Business • Identify business needs and get aligned with GG business stakeholders to guarantee agreement on terms and process by reflecting the expectation of businesses

• Develop cost saving initiatives and projects based on deep analytic skill and procurement expertise • Responsible for negotiation for best possible cost service guarantee and develop “win-win” strategy that achieve sustainable relationship with suppliers by inventing negotiation strategies and tactics

• Manage key supplier performance where necessary to ensure uninterrupted supply

• Develop and cultivate effective relationships with suppliers

• Provide and share with business cross functional team lithium industry market intelligence

• Develop and leverage relationship with Corning partners who use Lithium Reporting Structure:

§ Hiring Manager: Senior Supply Chain Manager, Gorilla Glass.

§ Dual reporting: solid to GSM (direct category) and dotted to GG business (manufacturing).

Education & Experience

§ Bachelor degree. Major in engineering, supply chain management or business.

§ >10 yrs experience in direct materials’ procurement & value chain optimization;

§ 7 plus years of Lithium sourcing experience or similar materials

§ Supplier management, high-level negotiations, contracting;

§ Proven track record in cost reduction development & implementation.

• Strong understanding of the Lithium market - both minerals and chemical- including market dynamics conditions, price drivers, technology disruptions

• Strong understanding of the Lithium value chain including processing costs and conversion costs

• Strong understanding of the Electric Vehicle industry (supply and demand drivers, penetration forecasts) and understanding of market dynamics of other commodities (e.g., cobalt) used in EVs industry impacting lithium demand volatility

• Strong proficiency in decision making (take effective decision in complex situation, should demonstrate good judgment and consider long-term implication of different options)
