Purpose of the Position: The Human Resources Consultant role will support the Americas region for GSM consisting of both Corporate GSM resources, as well as resources embedded in our various business teams. The headcount for this group is approximately 250 employees, primarily exempt, in Category Management, Project Management, Logistics, Global Project and Process Management, and Planning roles. The role will be responsible for various human resource generalist activities, leading a few key processes for the function, as well as leading several projects. Finally, the role will need to partner with business group HR professionals to ensure alignment with business teams.

Key Deliverables:

  • Ensures and assists in implementation/administration of HR programs / processes / policies establishing and reinforcing Corning Values and positive work environment, while complying with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Ensures HR key stakeholders fully understand the value, benefit, and use of HR programs / processes / policies. Manages/ensures standards and guidelines are understood and consistently applied
  • Ensures HR programs / processes / policies meet or beat quality and delivery expectations
  • Ensures financial decisions and recommendations support top quartile cost performance objectives while maintaining appropriate levels of HR service delivery
  • Responsible for execution thru finalization of hiring processes including salary offers, etc.
  • Identifies employee value proposition issues affecting turnover and works with HR manager to identify actions for improvement

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Administers change management strategies in support of successful implementation
  • Recommends/implements areas for standardization of HR programs / processes / policies, as appropriate, to reduce complexity of administration and associated costs
  • Implements HR programs / processes / policies in compliance with current legal and regulatory policies and assesses them to determine the extent to which they support Corning Values and positive work environment
  • Gathers and analyzes data on the performance and impact of HR programs / processes / policies, highlights areas of concern or improvement, and creates reports and presentations as requested to ensure achievement of targeted results
  • Obtains and summarizes voice of the customer feedback on HR programs / processes / policies and ease of use
  • Develops and maintains subject matter experts through independent research and participation in company / professional groups
  • Educates colleagues and customer groups on proper use of HR systems for which he/she is responsible
  • Monitors and maintains integrity of data contained in HR systems for which he/she is responsible
  • Administers HR payment and billing processes as appropriate
  • Ownership of executing campus recruiting efforts and subsequent follow-on actions
  • Manages internship process/assignments with participants and managers
  • Assists in deployment of HR transformational goals (change management) and required levels of client support
  • Provide appropriate council and support to hiring managers on HR processes/programs.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources 
  • Prior 3 years of HR Generalist experience supporting
  • Computer Proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PeopleSoft)
  • Successful track record in the administration of HR of Business processes or programs
  • Successful track record of continuous process/product improvement using defined methodology
  • Successful track record in fast-paced work environment (taking initiative, working independently & handling multiple priorities)
  • Able to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced knowledge of Excel (e.g. the ability to query, run reports, sort data and analyze results)
  • Broad knowledge of HR policies, processes and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Desired Skills:  

  • Prior experience in supporting Supply Chain functions (Plan, Source, Make, Delivery, Enable)
