Purpose of the Position:

HR Leadership and Support to Corning Shared Services. Global role supporting team in Corning, NY, Budapest, Hungary, and Shanghai, China.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the function has the right number and type of talent required to execute function strategy and achieve desired business results
  • Ensures function realizes required levels of employee productivity and performance excellence required to execute function strategy and achieve desired business results
  • Ensures function establishes and maintains a positive work environment and operates as “One Corning” in support of Corning’s Values
  • Assists in achieving or beating function budgetary objectives in support of top quartile cost performance objectives while maintaining appropriate levels of HR service delivery
  • Ensures the successful implementation of global HR business processes within the function
  • Ensures function compliance with HR-related legal and regulatory guidelines
  • Collaborates with HR Manager, Finance to prioritize current and future talent requirements of the function which could adversely affect achievement of annual business objectives
  • Takes actions required to address key talent gaps, ensuring function has the right people in the right place at the right time
  • Coordinates with HR Manager, Finance and partners with function management to identify and implement targeted division, function, and individual development plans that address targeted talent gaps in a timely manner
  • Partners with HR Manager, Finance and function management to identify and implement a compelling employee value proposition that enables the client to attract and retain the number and type of talent required to close talent gaps
  • Supports function management in effectively deploying performance management and rewards processes/practices to drive required levels of employee accountability for desired performance results and ensure retention of top performers
  • Effectively deploys HR shared service delivery model in support of HR transformational goals and required levels of client support
  • Collaborates closely with HR Manager, Finance to understand and implement HR programs that drive standardization across the function while ensuring business needs are met
  • Functions as the voice of the functional customer to HR to ensure that the type and level of services provided fully support achievement of function business objectives
  • Educates function management in development and implementation of required programs and processes to drive a positive work environment through function management and supervisors
  • Oversees communications to function staff and local community to keep them informed and engaged of function and corporate endeavors
     
    Education & Experience:
  • Bachelors – Human Resources Management or Related Field
  • 3-5 Years of Generalist experience
     
    Required Skills:
  • Exposure to leading HR across multiple locations
  • Knowledge of employment laws and policies
  • Work experience in designing and implementing effective global organization structures and work processes that improve function ability to achieve desired results
  • Trusted business partner; operates with integrity
     
    Desired Skills:
  • Exposure to managing a contingent workforce team
  • 1-2 years of experience in a plant
  • Proven ability with retention strategies
     
    Soft Skills:
  • Strong business partner
  • Able to build relationships at all levels; understand temperature of the team
