The global Human Resource (HR) Function provides an integrated talent management system that delivers a workforce that is Corning's competitive differentiator in the global marketplace.

HR provides service offerings that align solutions to business challenges by ensuring the programs are Effective, Efficient, Global, Scaleable, and Repeatable.  Corning’s Values are operationalized by the HR Function through the facilitation of Talent Management offerings, as well as programs and processes that aid in making Corning’s Values visible.

Role Purpose

The Plant Human Resources Manager ensures the plant has the right talent, employee productivity, and performance excellence needed to execute its strategy and achieve desired business results. The role supports a positive work environment aligned with Corning’s Values and ensures compliance with HR-related legal and regulatory guidelines. Additionally, the HR Manager drives the implementation of global HR business processes, meets budgetary objectives, and provides the necessary HR service delivery to support top quartile cost performance.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Management

  • Collaborate with the Division HR Manager/Director to identify and address current and future talent gaps that could impact annual business objectives.
  • Take actions to ensure the plant has the right people in the right roles at the right time.
  • Partner with plant management and HR teams to create and implement division, plant, and individual development plans to address talent gaps.
  • Develop and implement an employee value proposition to attract and retain the talent needed to meet business goals.

Performance Management & Retention

  • Support plant management in deploying performance management and rewards processes to drive accountability and retain top performers.
  • Educate plant supervisors and managers on programs and practices that foster a positive work environment and employee engagement.

HR Programs Implementation

  • Collaborate with Division HR to implement standardized HR programs across the division while meeting specific plant business needs.
  • Function as the voice of the plant customer to HR to ensure services provided meet plant business objectives.
  • Deploy the HR shared service delivery model to support HR transformation goals and client needs.

Employee Relations & Labor Relations

  • Work closely with plant management and the local union to resolve employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner, ensuring the plant operates effectively and efficiently.
  • Establish and maintain a presence on the plant floor to monitor organizational health and employee sentiment.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Implement risk management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws.
  • Ensure plant safety and risk management requirements are met.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development or Labor Relations or equivalent qualification/experience

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • 3–5 years of HR experience (generalist/specialist) or equivalent.
  • Master’s degree in HR-related fields or HR certifications.
  • Proven track record in a plant HR specialist role or first-line supervision experience.
  • Experience deploying global HR processes or programs.
  • Training or experience in quality/safety management (PE Greenbelt certification preferred).
  • Experience aligning plant leadership around organizational direction and governance.
  • Designing and implementing organizational structures and work processes to improve plant performance, including product startups, expansions, or mature business optimization.
  • Labor relations experience, including working with unions.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English language skills.

The range for this position is $79,519.00 - $109,339.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
