Scope of Position:

  • Partner on developing and implementing an integrated strategy for the Global Research Organization to support business needs as well as diversity and inclusion goals
  • Direct accountability for supporting assigned Global Research leaders and their teams, balancing multiple and sometimes conflicting requirements
  • Provides HR leadership support for select Corning Research Centers across the globe
  • Support implementation of HR processes for Global Research – compensation, performance management, talent management/people reviews, human capital planning, immigration/expatriation, restructuring, recognition, diversity, leadership/supervisory development, career development and training
  • Member of Technology Community HR function, assuming responsibility for leading select initiatives as needed
  • Contributes to the management of S&T internship and co-op programs
  • Ensures client group establishes and maintains a positive work environment and operates as “One Corning” in support of Corning’s Values

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Partners with Global Research HR Manager and client business team to identify and implement a compelling employee value proposition that enables them to attract and retain the number and type of talent required to close talent gaps
  • Partners with Global Research HR Manager to take actions required to address talent gaps, ensuring the division has the right people in the right place at the right time
  • Partners with client group to identify and implement targeted client group and individual development plans that address targeted talent gaps in a timely manner
  • Effectively deploys performance management and rewards processes/practices within client group to drive required levels of employee accountability for desired performance results and ensure retention of top performers
  • Holds client managers and leaders accountable for establishing and maintaining a positive work environment in support of desired S&T culture
  • Effectively deploys HR shared service delivery model in support of HR transformational goals and required levels of client support
  • Coaches Research and Modeling Senior leaders in development and implementation of required programs and processes to establish and maintain a positive work environment

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Organization Development, labor relations or equivalent;
  • Master’s degree in related area and/or HR certifications – a plus
  • Successful track record of performance in HR Manager role(s) supporting research and/or engineering personnel.
  • At least 5 years of HR experience (generalist/specialist combined)

  • Successful track record in the deployment of global HR business processes or programs
  • Work experience in managing training and development activities in a complex organization
  • Demonstrated ability to think logically and strategically
  • Strong computer and analytical skills

Travel Requirements: 10%, Domestic and International
