The global Human Resource (HR) Function provides an integrated talent management system that delivers a workforce that is Corning's competitive differentiator in the global marketplace.

Role Purpose

The HR Portfolio Manager will be responsible for both active management of assigned projects and for overseeing a portfolio of projects within the HR function to ensure their successful completion. This role will work closely with cross functional teams to deliver project results and lead work streams that contribute to the overall project success.  The role has overall responsibility for managing scope, cost, schedule, resources, and deliverables across the project portfolio.  This position requires strong organization, leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight for a portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives and the optimal utilization of resources.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, including the HR function and other key Business Leaders, to plan and execute projects.
  • Oversee all aspects of projects from initiation to closure, including confirming project scope, goals & deliverables in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure project completion within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
  • Implement project governance structures and processes to ensure consistent and quality delivery across the portfolio of projects.
  • Monitor and report on project status, risks, and issues regularly to all stakeholders, including project teams, management, and executive leadership. 
  • Coordinate with other project managers, departments, and external resources to ensure seamless execution and handover of projects.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging team members to identify opportunities for efficiency and process enhancements.

 

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of project/program management experience
  • PMP certification
  • Proven experience in project management and portfolio management, with demonstrated ability to manage risks, budgets & resources effectively across multiple workstreams in complex projects
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively & interface effectively with all levels of teams and executives, both internal and external
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a track record of overcoming project obstacles.
  • Strong leadership, organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to stay professional and calm under pressure.
  • Highly confidential, trustworthy and discreet
  • Proven time management skills – ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects, execute in a fast-paced, global environment, understand priority, urgency and know when to escalate
  • Results-driven continuous learner, curious with strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and embrace change
  • Ability to collaborate and be a team player, open and approachable, builds strong relationships
  • Capable of effectively managing conflicts and confidently addressing challenging conversations with colleagues.
  • Readily shares recognition and appreciation with others to celebrate success and engage teams
  • Ability to take direction and feedback to make improvements
  • Proficient in project management software, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Visio and Excel
  • Desired: experience managing technical projects

The range for this position is $130,656.00 - $179,652.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
