The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Overview: The IT Engagement and Operations Leader for Law will be responsible for partnering with Law Dept. Operations to deliver technology solutions that meet the tactical and strategic needs of the function. This role will serve as the point of contact for all IT operational activity which includes engaging with vendors and collaborating other IT Service Lines to resolve issues and deliver value.

Responsibilities:

  • Function as the first point of contact for IT service issues, and work with the IT function and users to resolve them.
  • Support and collaborate with Corning IT initiatives by working closely with Service Lines and project teams to coordinate testing, deployment and adoption of new, upgraded or existing IT services.
  • Function as an advocate for the Law organizations IT needs and business needs and work closely with IT Service Lines to identify what services are most appropriate to meet these needs.
  • Partner with It Service Lines to educate business leadership and users on existing services and on new services that may serve existing or emerging business needs.
  • Participate on project teams (IT, Vendors and or Solution Implementation partners) to deliver projects in the roadmap on schedule and within budget.
  • Lead technology planning and strategy execution including identification of technology needs and participation in vendor evaluation/selection.
  • Support and manage organization specific IT applications and monitor their overall effectiveness in meeting business needs.
  • Manage the Law Dept. IT project Portfolio.
  • Develop business process understanding in order to facilitate conversations between functional and technical audiences.
  • Responsible for overseeing maintenance and updates to law department databases and reference materials, including the managing physical and electronic library.
  • Participate in the Law Department’s ongoing technical technology system maintenance activities.
  • Encourage customers to accept standardized technology (Corning First).
  • Solve customer problems by analyzing solutions to find common issues identify root cause(s) and develop effective solutions.
  • Ensure proper documentation of applications and hardware solutions.
  • Respond to customer’s and IT leaders’ questions about a process or technology.
  • Keep up with the latest technologies and suggest how to apply the technology in the business.
  • Financial responsibility for organization budget, Bill of IT, green book, black book and cost reductions/containment (working in conjunction with manager/project team(s)

Education & Experience:

  • B.S. degree (in IT, engineering or business), with related business discipline experience.
  • 10 + years of experience in IT Engagement or Operations
  • 7 + years of experience in Law Operations (a plus)
  • Experience managing projects across multiple stakeholder groups
  • 7 + yeas of vendor management experience

  • Strong bias for action and an ability to deliver results despite the complex and fluid environment.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Must demonstrate a proven willingness to go the extra mile, to take on the things that need to be done and maintain a positive attitude that can adapt to change.
