The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Role Purpose

The IT Solution Architect for Corporate Applications is responsible for designing and delivering scalable, secure, and integrated technology solutions that support key corporate functions. This role collaborates closely with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, and technical teams to ensure solutions are aligned with organizational strategy, enterprise architecture standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.

The Solution Architect’s core areas of focus are:

· Long-term technology planning (10–15%)

· Confirming and executing technology effectiveness (70–80%)

· Providing enterprise-level leadership and influence (10–15%)

This position is critical for driving technology initiatives that enable corporate objectives, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure the integrity of enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Architecture

· Lead the design and delivery of end-to-end solutions for corporate applications, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and business objectives.

· Translate business requirements into technical specifications and solution blueprints to guide development and implementation.

· Evaluate, recommend, and integrate technologies, platforms, and digital tools that support and enhance corporate functions part of the primary goals will include lean process mindsets for the technology stack.

· Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, compliant with industry standards, and provide directionally accurate cost estimates to support business case development.

Stakeholder Collaboration

· Partner with business leaders and functional teams to understand needs, identify opportunities for innovation, and drive automation initiatives.

· Collaborate with project managers, developers, and vendors to ensure the successful delivery of technology solutions.

· Serve as a trusted advisor, providing strategic guidance on leveraging an array of enterprise software to enhance business processes and outcomes.

· Demonstrate strong collaboration and leadership skills by working effectively with executives and key stakeholders, utilizing influence, persuasion, negotiation, and group facilitation abilities.

Governance & Standards

· Ensure solutions adhere to security, compliance, and data governance standards.

· Maintain architectural documentation and contribute to the development of enterprise architecture frameworks.

Technology Leadership

· Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure corporate applications remain innovative and competitive.

· Provide thought leadership and mentorship to technical teams, fostering skill development and best practices.

· Investigate, analyze, and resolve technical issues, ensuring effective troubleshooting for corporate applications.

· Manage changes and execute emergency fixes promptly to address high-priority issues and maintain business continuity.

Experiences/Education - Required

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

· 5+ years of digital and IT experience, including at least 3 years in solution architecture roles.

· Demonstrated success designing technology solutions for corporate functions such as HRIS, ERP, and information security tools

· Strong expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), integration technologies (e.g., APIs, middleware), and enterprise data models.

· Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences; experience with platforms such as M365, digital tools, IT Forensics , or ServiceNow is a plus.

Experiences/Education - Desired

· TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification, with experience in Agile and DevOps methodologies.

· Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA), risk management practices, and familiarity with AI/ML capabilities.

· Highly self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and drive initiatives forward.

The range for this position is $103,426.00 - $142,211.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
