Scope of Position

This position is responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment. Support the Sullivan Park Environmental, Health, Safety and Materials Management team day-to-day tasks, specifically safety and health processes for all campus operations. This may include job safety analysis, management of change reviews, industrial hygiene assessments, writing lock-out tag-out procedures, ergonomic assessments, machine guarding assessments, personal protective equipment assessments, chemical inventory management and lab audits.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Exercise sound judgment, strong engineering and technical problem-solving skills related to safety and health
  •  Chemical inventory management
  • Laser safety & inventory management
  • Participate in management of change reviews for safety, health and environmental processes
  • Conduct safety and health inspections in laboratories and process areas
  • Develop lockout tagout procedures
  • Develop machine guarding assessments
  • Develop and audit personal protective equipment assessments
  • Present relevant information in various meetings
  • Develop communications related to safety and health topics

Education and Experience

Current undergraduate or master’s degree student in safety and health, industrial hygiene, engineering, environmental science, chemistry or other related technical field.

Required Skills

• Strong communication and listening skills

• MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint 

• Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement

• Positive professional attitude and willingness to learn

• Can work independently as well as within a diverse team environment

Desired Skills

  • Previous practical industrial experience
  • College level chemistry coursework that includes laboratory experience.
  • Goal and results oriented

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
