Scope of Position:

This is a technical intern position where you, the engineer, will be expected to apply fundamental but rigorous scientific methods and mechanistic understanding to improve processes and/or design capability for new and existing process and products, The work may require you to be able to influence across organizational boundaries. You may have to collaborate with research and development (R&D) teams to identify controlling mechanisms and apply the understanding to engineering or manufacturing system to optimize processes and or products, modify data streams or suggest system or propose modifications.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

 • You may be involved generating hypothesis, design and execution of experiments to facilitate and promote fundamental understanding

• You may be involved in analysis of data and generating reports for sharing with team members and leaders

• You may be involved in conducting hands on work in a laboratory, pilot or manufacturing environment.

• You will communicate project status and updates to your supervisor as well as both the project team members and leaders. Communication may include memos, technical reports and verbal/oral presentations.

 

Travel Requirements:

• Some project specific travel may be expected depending on need

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

 • M-F; business hours

• Some scheduling flexibility available

 • Duration: Summer 2023

 

Required Education:

 • Sophomore or Junior in Engineering discipline.

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

• Previous industrial experience is a plus but not required.

 

Required Skills:

• Good laboratory and experimental practices.

• Ability to collaborate with peers and integrate solutions

• Good data analysis and visualization skills

• Results oriented and high level of dedication.

• Open to learning new technologies and processes quickly.

 

Desired Skills:

• Understanding of material processing, and Manufacturing processes,

 • Organized and safety oriented

• Experience with software such as Microsoft Office, JMP, Minitab, etc.

• Initiative and able to follow instructions and execute in a dynamic environment

• Ability to navigate within a dynamic network to get things done

• Dedication, creativity and the passion to learn and work with a world class team to deliver results

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
