Role Purpose
Working within the Ion Exchange group to support new ion exchange development programs and fundamental understanding of chemically strengthening glass through ion exchange. This includes supporting key customer requests and internal projects by preparing samples and experimental requests, and managing sample flow through mechanical property evaluation, product qualification, and design of experiments (DOEs). You will also routinely support metrology data collection and summarization, samples inspections, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Sample prep for testing and assist with coordination of sample flow for DOEs, product qualification, and fundamental understanding.
- Perform stress measurements, frangibility tests on glass samples, and glass analysis/inspections/processing pre and post ion exchange.
- Support scientists with generating requests for glass processing and testing.
- Sample submission for testing, tracking and compilation of data.
- Create and maintain spreadsheets for data, inventory, shipping, sample processing etc.
- Generate/maintain documentation (Period reports, SOPs, safety documents, 5S.)
- Understanding onsite and offsite storage logistics to be able to send and retrieve items as needed.
- Participate on development project teams.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Science or a related technical field.
- Familiarity with tracking Quality Control specifications and relating them to process data.
- Experience in executing and tracking DOEs and analyzing metrology results.
- Proficiency in using lab equipment for data collection and measurement, such as precision balances.
- Ability to utilize tracking systems for sample management.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Background in chemical handling, ion exchange, or material science.
- Experience in materials and optical characterization techniques, including glass metrology.
- Understanding of the ion exchange process.

The range for this position is $59,395.00 - $81,669.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
