K12 Instructional Support Intern:  

This position is located in the Corning Valley in NY, which is the location of our global headquarters, a beautiful and friendly community in the Finger Lakes. Well known as the home of beautiful gorges and waterfalls for hiking, clear lakes great for swimming, sailing, kayaking, water skiing, boating, and fishing, the region is also world-renowned for its wineries and craft breweries. Corning and surrounding communities are safe and family-friendly with excellent schools, sports programs, quaint shopping, and fine dining. If you are interested in cultural activities, you can visit the Corning Museum of Glass, the Rockwell Museum (a Smithsonian affiliate), see national productions at the Clemens Center or attend one of many community activities throughout the year like GlassFest, Sparkle, the Parade of Lights, MLK Day or Pride Day celebrations. Corning Incorporated’s Community Impact Division partners with local K12 districts and their efforts to attract and recruit talented educators to the region. Community Impact embeds educators within districts to provide consultation and professional development to teachers, students, and district administrators.

 

The summer internship experience (Teach for Southern Tier New York) is a 6-week experience providing future educators with hands-on learning within local districts (Elmira City School District and Corning-Painted Post School District). As our intern, you are provided opportunities to apply theory to practice by designing and facilitating meaningful learning experiences for students. You are paired with a host/mentor teacher who provides 1:1 guidance and support. You’ll live, work, and experience the communities in which Corning operates, while cultivating your teaching skills. As our Intern, you will also be involved in various professional development and networking events where you will enhance your social capital to position you for success as you embark on your teaching career.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in facilitating summer program curriculum;  
  • Collaborate with teachers and Corning’s Internship program lead identifying culturally inclusive curriculum to implement within the host school and/or district;  
  • Participate in weekly professional learning opportunities sponsored by program and host school staff;  
  • Complete a portfolio, outlining experiences gained and skills learned;  
  • Complete an organized weekly online journal, highlighting reflections, experiences, and skills learned throughout the week;  
  • Complete an evaluation midway through the program at program completion;  
  • Be punctual and follow all school and program policies, procedures, and NYS laws relevant to educators;  
  • Engage in weekly 1:1s and group meetings with program staff. 

 

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in an accredited teacher or administrator education program within New York
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel to your host school and professional development experiences required

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flextime:

  • July 7, 2025 – August 15, 2025 (flexibility to move in before July 7)
  • Monday-Thursday: school hours (8am-3pm)
  • Friday: business hours (8am-5pm)

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
