Scope:

  • MES Engineer position with project leadership experience. This position requires expertise in MES systems, especially Siemens OpsCenter (formerly CAMSTAR). The candidate should have a strong working knowledge of the ISA-95 architecture with a heavy focus on MES and its interfaces (ERP and SCADA systems). The ideal candidate would have a record of leading design efforts to meet partner needs and managing project teams to deliver result to the business in a rigorous fashion. In addition to the strong technical and project management skills the candidate must also show a high level of communication skills, as well as a cultural fit, to be able to share solutions to complex problems.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Solution Design & Development – Understand the customer specific manufacturing processes, identify the technical and functional requirements, generate technical designs using industry and company best practices, establish an approach, and deliver results to the business. This will be the major portion of the role’s responsibility
  • Technology Advisory & Consulting- Understand customer pain points and technical challenges leading to impact on business or customer experience, perform gap analysis between current state and industry/business best practices, identify solution alternatives in line with their specific context and objectives while highlighting the business benefits of investing in the technical solutions.
  • Project Estimation & Project Management – Lead and provide guidance of cost and scope to deliver business functionality. Lead technical teams to deliver designs to the business by following software approaches, such as AGILE and Waterfall, while managing project artifacts, such as timelines, budgets, and tasks, and using them to communicate status with project receivers and stakeholders
  • SDLC – Setup SDLC processes for projects as well as facilitating cross functional communication between the tool teams and engineering team to ensure quick resolution to issues in various environments.
  • Knowledge Management – Contribute towards updating knowledge assets, such as user manuals, workflows, help documents, and scripts. Support process audit activities.
  • Customer Management – build strong relationships with internal customer base

 

Travel:

  • Depending on the projects, up to 25%

 

Education requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or related engineering discipline.

 

Years and area of experience

  • 7-10+ years experiences in leading highly technical MES projects in the manufacturing space

 

Required skills

  • Lead, design, implement and test full stack of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) technologies, especially Siemens OpsCenter. Interface with related manufacturing systems such as CMMS, Historian, SCADA, etc.
  • Development and promote best practices, architecture, and standards in the MES space
  • Ability to design MES components and integrate them into a quality architecture ensuring high quality ware is produced and supplied to the customer
  • Solid understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), MES, equipment controls and how they integrate to provide a complete solution to the plant.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Thorough technical understanding of SDLC processes using tools like Jira, Git, etc.
  • Strong technical development skills including .Net, especially C#, database technologies such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, or MariaDB.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, logical and methodical approach to debugging
  • Cognizant of data storage technologies, networking, general IT hardware and software
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing operation and management
  • Broad-based communication skills to interact with customers in all areas of the business and at all levels of the organization.

 

Desired skills

  • Prior engineering experience with technical/project leadership responsibility for the design, development, and deployment of software and/or IT solutions for manufacturing environment
  • Experience in manufacturing information systems with process data collection and controls, shop floor and factory network systems architecture design for data integrity and reliability
