Purpose of Position: This role supports research and development projects by fabricating and assembling prototype parts and equipment with precision and efficiency.

 

Required Skills/Experience/Education:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 4 years of applicable machine shop experience or military equivalent, or Journeyman or Class “A” status.
  • OR Minimum 2-year Machine Tool Technology degree.
  • OR Certificate in a relevant field with a minimum of 1-year experience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate and/or assemble prototype parts and equipment using ideas and designs.
  • Set up and operate a variety of machines including: o CNC Lathes o 3 and 5-axis CNC Mills o Wire EDM o Surface Grinders o Drill Presses o Manual Lathes o Manual Mills o Straight Vertical Milling Machines
  • Write and/or edit existing machine programs to produce parts that meet design specifications and company quality standards.
  • Use precision measuring tools to inspect finished parts for accuracy.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining process issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment.
  • Experience with Mastercam, SolidWorks, or NC programming software preferred.
  • 5-axis machining experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

 

Job Information: 

  • A basic demonstration of skills is required. 
  • This position operates on 2nd shift. (2-10pm)
  • Probationary Period: New employees will go through a 90-day probationary period.
  • Union Representation: Production and Maintenance employees are represented by USW Local 1000.

The starting pay for this position is ​$36.46 hourly rate.  Compensation and benefits available for this position are dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
