Overview:

The Manager, Benefit and Leave programs position provides compliance oversight and leadership in further development, improvement and coordination of Corning’s absence and leave processes including disability and workers compensation. This role will participate actively in reengineering and standardizing processes, policies, and tools to drive process excellence. They will serve as the primary point of contact- rolling out new absence management strategies, creating educational materials and toolkits to assist workforce in guiding employees.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with leave administration vendors to ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal leave laws, as well as maintaining Corning policy documents and communications.
  • Collaborate across diverse groups to ensure appropriate leaves and return to work programs/accommodations are enforced and maintained.
  • Works with supervisors to track and monitor absences and leave; coordinates leaves with all relevant parties including management, payroll, employee relations, and benefits contacts.
  • Continue to expand and improve FMLA program
  • Implementation and compliance with new leave administration
  • Ensure programs are in line with organizational goals
  • Manage all benefit summary plan documents related to disability
  • Collaborate with Benefits Administrator on all areas for leave administration
  • Responsible for generating, analyzing, and presenting reports on a regular basis for Corning disability and Workers Comp trends
  • Management of multiple Corning disability plans including short term and long-term plans
  • Claims audits
  • Counsel for employees and supervisors concerning leave benefits
  • Facilitate return to work discussions with location
  • Conduct and develop training sessions on leave and disability practices for Human Resource managers
  • Handles escalations

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10-15 years of related experience

 

Technical qualifications:

  • This individual must be proficient in MS Office
  • Have knowledge of state and federal laws surrounding leaves
  • Ability to analyze systems and procedures and develop improvements

  • Proven project management skills—from idea inception to completion, and thorough evaluation.
