Role Purpose

To assist Corning Community Impact & Investment achieve its goals with particular focus on childcare, and downtown development.

Areas of Responsiblity

 

I. CHILD CARE
Manage the grant funding process for the dependent care fund including managing the annual request process, quarterly payments, and building relationships with program directors and in some cases their boards. Requires knowledge of financial model for each program and impact of Corning funding. Keep current on infant/toddler supply and demand situation and assist in implementing expansion plans. Lead effort to build new capacity when appropriate. Serve as consultant on childcare models to other local companies and as liaison to state offices when needed.

 

II. DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT
Support local economic development by working with developers, lending institutions and business owners to ensure the community remains vibrant, economically sound, and attractive to Corning employees and their families. Activities include but are not limited to business retention strategies, recruitment, assistance with business models, connection to financing alternatives, and gap-closing funding from Community Impact & Investment.

 

III. EDUCATION
Work with area educational institutions which are highly utilized by Corning employee families – Corning-Painted Post High School Learning Center and GST STEM Academy to facilitate job shadows, internships, classroom connections between Corning Incorporated and students.

 

IV. BOARD SERVICE

Serve on community boards which are important to Corning economic development priorities as needed

 

V. DUAL CAREER PLACEMENT SUPPORT

Support Corning Incorporated employee recruitment as part of the dual career concierge program. This includes meeting with prospective employees and their partners to understand employment needs and then leveraging local professional networks to help create opportunities for interviews and/or employment.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Ability to build relationships with community partners
  • Adept at working independently and in ambiguous situations
  • Able to achieve objectives in a collaborative way and comfortable sharing or ceding credit to others
  • Strong basic financial skills (forecasting, budgeting, ability to read P&L’s and balance sheets)
  • Capable in Microsoft office suite applications
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

The range for this position is $146,457.00 - $201,379.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
