Role Purpose:

Develops and manages the overall marketing communications strategy and corresponding tactics for Corning’s Automotive Glass Solutions business. Leads programs that communicate corporate and business priorities and strategic key messages to the company’s diverse stakeholders. Also serves as the marketing communications contact for internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, Corporate Communications, and AGS partners/customers. This is a senior marketing communications role in a fast-paced, fluid startup environment for an emerging growth business.

 

Key Responsibilities:


Team/Department Management:

  • Acts as subject matter expert in specific areas of expertise (e.g., media/PR, writing and storytelling, brand management, creative project management, executive communications, digital comms, graphics and visuals)
  • Manages individual(s) in support of business objectives and corporate priorities
  • Develops and manages a marketing communications budget
  • Ensures accurate and consistent communication by identifying process improvements and implementing best practices
  • Sets and measures objectives for self and team and contributes to business priorities in a high-impact and measurable way
  • Guides and coaches direct report(s) through day-to-day activities and elevates employee performance issues, identifies plans for development and improvement
  • Models leadership by developing communications talent and ensuring future leadership within the global marketing communications function

 

Cross-Functional Strategic Communications:

  • Works with business stakeholders to design and execute a communications strategy to support the achievement of corporate and business objectives and enhance Corning’s reputation globally
  • Works with Corporate Communications, Investor Relations, Trade shows and Events, Corning’s business units, and other divisional stakeholders to ensure products and technologies are properly represented in external and internal communications venues
  • Stays abreast of key business developments, innovation initiatives, and general trends and proactively recommends communications strategies
  • Understands stakeholder needs through surveys and other research methods to gain a deeper understanding of target audiences to inform tailored, outcome-driven communications strategies
  • Develops and communicates key messages to leadership in preparation for quarterly earnings with Investor Relations and other IR-related events and engagements

 

Product and Brand Marketing Communications:

  • Crafts messages used to create content pertaining to technology portfolio, including scripts, presentations, white papers, media pitches, and web and social media content
  • Builds, strengthens, protects, and leverages Corning’s brand, trademarks, and copyrights across the geographical regions in which Corning operates to ensure branding strategy, joint venture messaging, and partner messaging is consistent across the company
  • Manages Corning’s communications participation in strategic events by identifying media targets, preparing key messages, measuring the effectiveness, and tracking budgets

 

Public Relations Programs:

  • Establishes industry media contacts and develops relationships to help broaden and deepen communication channels
  • Proactively monitors relevant media coverage and identifies opportunities to insert Corning/AGS into broader narratives and elevate technology awareness
  • Aligns Corporate Communications and business marketing communications messages when working with global media
  • Develops BU spokesperson bench and works with Corporate Communications media team to provide media training that positions Corning and AGS/the Auto MAP in an impactful and relevant way

 

Executive and Employee Communications:

  • Provides strategic communications expertise and recommendations to senior business and functional leaders
  • Supports priority executive communications, including thought-leadership content, and critical employee communications

 

Issues and Crisis Communications:

  • Serves on business crisis response leadership team as part of the Corporate Crisis Response Team
  • Evaluates and prepares for potential issues and crises that could impact the company’s reputation and develops the appropriate communication strategies to mitigate them, including IP violations, competitive intelligence threats, personnel issues, trademark infringement claims, and others

 

Experiences/Education – Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field
  • Work experience in both corporate or business marketing communications
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience with proven success
  • Ability to navigate and deliver results in fast-paced startup environment
  • Strong prioritization skills and experience handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Proven storyteller with excellent writing and verbal communications skills and high attention to detail
  • A keen eye for and experience creating graphics, video, and visual content for multiple channels
  • Experience working with media and press, pitching stories, managing prep, and facilitating interviews
  • Experience working with financial reporting or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with senior management and leadership
  • Experience responding to external inquiries, providing strategic recommendations and guidance
  • Experience executing and leading major communications events including product launches, facility openings, and trade shows/exhibitions
  • Experience managing direct reports and across all levels of the organization
  • Experience working with external agencies and vendors

 

Experiences/Education - Desired:

  • Graduate-level education in a related field
  • Global acumen/business experience
  • Personal interest in global automotive market news and industry trends
  • Work experience in product marketing or product line management
  • Work experience with similar products or technology
  • Work experience within the automotive or technology industry\
  • Experience developing and/or managing a brand and marketing materials

 

Location and Travel:

  • Position will based at Corning, NY Global Headquarters
  • Travel is up to 25%
