The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success.  It delivers the training, tools and opportunities needed to create innovative solutions for the function & the corporation.  GSM has leading edge, effective processes to anticipate and exceed customer requirements.

 

Role Scope:

The Manager, Sourcing, Media, and Serum will play a critical role in Corning’s Life Sciences operations by leading the sourcing strategy for global commodities within the Media and Serum category. This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategic sourcing plans that align with short- and long-term business goals, optimizing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with Corning’s Global Buying Policy. The position provides the opportunity to shape sourcing strategies that impact global operations, drive cost savings, and ensure supplier performance, reliability, and quality. The role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and procurement, to successfully deliver results and meet business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Develops Strategic Sourcing plans and objectives (short & long term) based on forecasts of future demand and taking into account economic and currency trends and conditions that affect GSM, the business, and the global commodity sourced. 

- Works with the Business, GSSM, and Buyers on assigned global commodities to prepare and solicit competitive bids, quotations, and proposals with pertinent specifications, terms, and conditions. 

- Develops key strategies across suppliers and category of spend, achieving shared success through business engagement and alignment. 

- Develops and reviews specifications, statements of work, performance terms, and accept/reject criteria. 

- Conducts negotiations with potential and/or current major suppliers to obtain maximum value. 

- Leads the development and communication of global supply intelligence for assigned commodities. 

- Owns the Supplier Relationship Management process for the assigned commodities. 

- Develops and cultivates effective relationships with suppliers. 

- Develops, maintains, and executes Shared Objectives and Service Level Agreements. 

- Champions and advocates for the Global Buying Policy, ensuring compliance. 

 

Experiences/Education:

Required:

- Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering or technical discipline preferred; MBA preferred) 

- Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing – operations, planning, engineering, supply management, or procurement 

- Experience with Strategic Sourcing and strategy development 

- Knowledge and experience about the Media and Serum industry 

 

Desired:

- Experience across multiple businesses, divisions, regions, and/or technologies 

- Experience with global manufacturing and business through work or project experience 

- Experience working in a matrix environment or on a cross-functional team 

 

Location: Corning, NY; Manassas, VA; Tewksbury, MA  (Hybrid)

 

Travel: Up to 20% travel may be required for supplier visits, business meetings, and cross-functional collaboration.

The range for this position is $96,534.00 - $132,734.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
