Role Purpose:

The purpose of this Market Analyst role is to forecast shipment volumes for top OEM customers by integrating inputs from end market, account, product line and value chain teams and regularly communicate changes and implications to commercial, finance and supply planning operations. This role is part of the Commercial Operations team within the Gorilla Glass business. This position is located in Corning NY.

 

Deliverables:

  • Provide monthly OEM glass shipment volume by SKU based on inputs from end market, product line management, account teams and OEM / value chain forecasts
  • Support monthly, quarterly, annual and long term forecast updates to commercial, finance and supply chain leadership with a detailed understanding of plan over plan changes and rationale
  • Provide regular updates to supply planning to optimize meeting customer demand and maintaining acceptable inventory levels • Summarize changes from regular OEM and value chain forecasts
  • Monitor and report significant OEM related market news that may impact forecasts
  • Ad-hoc support for senior exec information requirements Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of forecasts by OEM and SKU in support of regular deliverables
  • Preparation of data/information in support of ad hoc requests for analysis
  • Proactively mine OEM and value chain news for potential impact on forecasts
  • Integrate updates from end market, product line, account team and value chain teams
  • Develop processes and assumptions to complete information where there are gaps
  • Improve existing processes to incorporate learnings and improve accuracy

 

Performance Metrics:

  • Forecast accuracy of the Short Term Forecast (STF) measured by total volume by SKU
  • Revenue accuracy of the Long Term Forecast (LTF) measured by total revenue
  • Delivering forecasts to support regular and ad hoc business needs
  • % Standard Forecasting Processes Improved Competencies (knowledge, skills and behaviors):
  • Turn data/information into insights and implications to the business
  • Identify/prioritize information gaps; recommend strategies to address
  • Remain objective: “define reality”
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Differentiate and communicate differences between “data” and “ assumptions”
  • Drive/deliver significant quantitative analysis to support hypotheses
  • Review large amounts of input/data – identify key issues

 

Experiences/Education:      

Required                                                                                               

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering, Applied Science, or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Experience delivering quantitative analysis results and implications to senior management

Desired

  • MBA or equivalent demonstrated experience (i.e., extensive experience in business)
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in financial analysis in a technology / manufacturing company
  • Experience working on development of product strategy
  • Experience in a customer facing role a plus
  • Global customer base or global customer experience is desired
  • Experience participating on diverse teams across multiple time zones is desired
